We are a term time (currently) setting full day care, we have our own building and 15 staff. We have a reception desk and two rooms plus other areas/activities. Our office worker is leaving and we feel we need somone on reception for main part of day 9-4 and for administration duties. Also deputy is wanting to job share not full time. My mind is a fuzz with how to restructure, the buisness side is greater than i have thought and i need to ensure i get it covered. What's your structure, if you are of a similar make up, im wondering about admin apprenticeship to help make things work saying that i really dont know

Crazy as it may sound, I heard a doctor on the radio yesterday saying we should be applying suncream in this unseasonable warm weather. He said the amount of UVB light was strong enough to burn and that everyone should be taking the necessary precautions. Is anyone out there using suncream on the children?

Sorry I know this has been asked before am being very lazy and not searching for answer. I have a new member of staff starting with me in a few weeks. She is signed up to the update service so can check her clearance. However when she starts with me do I have to start the DBS process all over again. It doesn't make sense tome to start it but the DBS will have her previous employer named and not us. So how does this work?

Just a thought...do any of you provide emergency care for days like today when schools are closed. We are registered for all ages and they would be in ratio. Wondered how Ofsted views this?? can't find anything to say Yay or Nay!

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to share the funding agreement that they use with parents? I never got round to drawing one up (I know, I know...it was on the TDL and just kept slipping further and further down!) Thank you! PS I mean share it on the forum, not share it with parents!

Hi Looking for recommendations and costs for management and payroll software for our pre-school setting with 16 staff. Ideally I would like a cloud based system. Many thanks

I know this has been discussed on here before but I couldn't find any recent threads. What is the latest perceived wisdom on this - do I need a combined PPL / PRS licence to cover Christmas sing songs etc? What is everyone else doing? TIA

Hi All wondered if you have advice please. I have a lovely lady who has been working with me since September. She is a natural, caring person eager to learn the ways of the Early Education establishment and EYFS. Everything we have thrown at her she has picked up really quickly and is now even beginning to write observations. She is keen to start studying for level 3 but doesn't want to go full time to college. The apprenticeship is asking for 30 hours works which she also does not want to do and to be honest I cannot offer her that much work. I get bombarded with emails from various companies offering distance learning and flexible learning options. W…
