Hi I think I know the answer but just wanted to check in advance of a possible staffing issue - normally I'd have 2 level three staff and myself (an EYP) in but if I have two 2 yr olds and 11 over 3's in on a session (13 total) would I be able to run with myself and one other level 3 staff member? Don't especially want to work with these ratios but with staff off Ill this week im checking in advance what may need to happen and if I need to close at all.

Hi looking for some guidance in whether we can claim or not... A child was due to start in January before head count date but due to changing settling in sessions including increasing the amount to ensure the child had fully settled before their start date as a result of this the child does not start with us until the end of this week and head count date was 16/01/2014 does this mean we are now un able to claim for the child this funding block? Even though they were registered with us before head count date? Many thanks x

Deputy stepping down

Hi everyone, I need some advice. My deputy told me today that she would like to step down until the end of academic year due to personal reasons. She wants to stay employed and be a regular practitioner and key person until she sorts herself out (some serious family issues). Of course I have to agree to it as I can tell she's not well. She has always struggled with her role and I have spent last 4 yrs trying to get her to be a deputy I want and need. I think she will not resume the role but cannot asume that. There is anoter staff member who I think would be brilliant. My question is - do I have to tell my whole team that they can apply (not a permanent post!) o…

We are a charity run playgroup and considering purchasing the above package. Does anyone use this and if so does it cover all your financial banking/accounting side? Would we still need something like quickbooks/sage or excel to do all our income/expenditure & balance sheets/cash flow/bank rec for charity commission/accountant or would instant nursery manager do everything. The features on their website looks like it doesn't cover the business financial side in as much detail as an accounts package would.

We have a boy with downs who has just turned 3. He has been randomly biting children and staff for some time now. We have observed him and there are definitely no triggers that we can see - we also believe that he doesnt really understand the pain he is causing others. The issue we have is this - 2 parents have withdrawn their children after being badly bitten more than once and this is obviously having an effect on the business. We are monitoring the boy on a 1-1 basis but we cannot sustain the cost of this indefinitely. This child claims nursery grant but are we allowed to ask the parents to contribute towards the cost of supporting him 1-1? We really want to be inc…

This has been driving me mad for a few days. Our LEA are now enforcing the minimum session times for claiming of 2 1/2 hours. We need to open at 9am and close at 3pm to fit in with local schools. We need a morning session / lunch /pm session (and an all day) I was thinking of 9am until 11.30 am session 11.30 - 12.30 to include lunch 12 -30 -3pm pm session 9-3 pm all day session but no combination makes 15 hours (so parents can access it free) Where am I going wrong?

Just been told it is £51 for a new staff member to have a DBS check. Is that average? Thank you Spiral :-)
