Rusty Keys!

I recently bought some of those lovely large iron keys that you can get from garden centres. The children love to use them in the 'secret garden' and they usually hang on the wooden arch. On the last day of term I noticed that they have gone very rusty . Although not expensive, I don't want to replace them as the same thing will happen. Thinking of health and safety - would you allow the children to use them? Would the rust cause any problem - apart from marking their hands and clothes? I'm not really sure what to do! Any advice?

Hi all, Im hoping you lovely lot might be able to help after reading lots of interesting info! I hear lots of you managers saying about the paperwork you have to do etc etc and I don't see my manager doing any of this?? I am the MD but only because the preschool was about to close so I decided to save it, Oh if only I had a crystal ball! The manager isn't very grateful and is quite put out actually that she is no longer actually totally in charge of things. My first question of many is what paperwork are you managers actually filling out because all I see her doing is the milk confirmation, end of term funding forms, creating name tags, printing off bits n pieces f…

Hoping someone else has been in this situation and give some advice? I have a staff member that broke her arm outside pre school, had operation and has four pins in it, this happened the last week of term and is still on high medication for pain. We are. Pack away pre school and have tried to think of light duties for her however it's her right arm and is limited to her use of the left one. Anyone else had similar issues I feel in our setting she would not only be a risk to herself but the children and other staff, we are very busy in January and have lots of new starters already booked, we are in a large hall and have an outside play policy normally in the woods …

At our setting we have a child with very extreme anger issues. He has had a really rough time before the family moved to us (can't really go into details) and this is showing in very violent tantrums both with us and at home. This means throwing anything he can get his hands on and targeting other people, adults and children, and also windows etc, anything that gets an effect basically. We are working on strategies with mum and outside help and hope that may calm things down as soon as possible. However, in the meantime, as the manager, I have the nagging worry about what happens if he really hurts some one (quite likely himself) or breaks a window etc. We know he is …

I cringe everytime I hear "who's poohed", "do you need your bum changing", "who needs a wee", especially when bellowed at full volume across a room. Is it just me???

Hi, for those settings that moved away from being committee led how long did it take and have you come across any negatives? Have you found parents are less interested and do less fundraising now? Thanks in advance x
