Have a problem where a parent is not using a car seat or seatbelts to restrain her two children. We put up a notice to draw all the parents attention to using seat belts etc, talked about the need for seat belts with the children in the setting and how they should remind 'busy carers' if they forget....etc etc and actually drew every parents attention to car safety notice. This parent is ignoring our advice. As we have a duty of care we are concerned. Is there anything else we should/can do?? We have asked the local police if they could come and hand out leaflets etc but have not heard back from them as yet.......

Just wondering how many Feet children you take on at one time? How you're finding it? I feel like we're struggling slightly at the moment and they are taking a lot of time and attention away from the other children. Any thoughts would be appreciated

hi Just wondered if anyone has ever been in a similar position? Following issues with a parent of a child who has only been with us a few weeks, the relationship between the parent and setting seems to have broken down. The parent refuses to speak to the other member of staff and is quite rude. She has already made a complaint to the Head and has been very vocal on collection of her child about her dissatisfaction with us. Fortunately several parents challenged this immediately and 2 have contacted the head off their own backs to raise concerns about the parent's behaviour. At the moment we don't quite know where to go with it next. Can a parent be asked to find anothe…

Hi all So sorry more questions this week!! It seems that Ofsted are now under this new framework looking for more comparison data. So instead of just doing a 'check' on how the cohort is getting on we should be looking at other groups as well. SO for example EAL, SEN, Boys/Girls, as well as usage of areas. There are so many ways this information could be recorded and used wondered what everybody else did. I so wish I could use tapestry, my understand is that these reports could be generated so easily with that

How would you react if a new member of staff's DBS check showed a police reprimand for assault / battery? This has happened and I'm not sure what to do. I haven't yet spoken to the member of staff so I don't know the details. The person in question is 18 and a reprimand is given to those under 18. I'd appreciate your views.

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help with my query or share their thoughts on a situation in regard to what procedures they follow to support suitability of staff when employing an apprentice once they have completed their apprenticeship training in the setting. The committee and supervisor have employed an apprentice who has trained in my pre-school as she has been a real asset to the team. My query is in regard to evidencing recruitment procedures followed, in this situation, if Ofsted wish to see them. The training provider has undertaken checks, All staff complete health declarations and a review of staff suitability re any changes to DBS status and this is discu…

Hi all We have recently converted from a charity to a community interest group and as a result have a lot to do to pull this setting up the standard we want. Can I ask what policies you have around staffing and HR please? We have all the ones around the EYFS but not staffing. Many thanks
