Hope someone can clarify this for me. I have 3 settings within a local authority area and have some staff who just cover for staff holidays, illness etc. Do they need a separate crb check for each setting or will 1 be ok if it is the name of the parent company.

Hi Does anyone have any experience if performance management? I need to undertake this to monitor a staff members performance but going to use same format to record learning and development for all staff across setting to make it fair. I have never done these before and just want an effective process that will work and will provide documentation of the support being offered as well as showing what they should have done but have no idea where to start with format x

Hi everyone. It's that time of year again when we send out our annual parent questionnaires. We've used the same one for a couple of years now, but I really don't like it - however, I'm not sure how to change it or what I actually want! Would anyone please be kind enough to share theirs to give me some ideas? Many thanks.

I have spoken about the fact myself the manager and two deputy managers are being made redundant at the end of term. This has been an extremely painful experience. The head wants to restructure the management at nursery (she wants to run it) and she wants one of the teachers in school to take over the day to day running of the nursery. As it is an academy we also think it is a financial decision. Well I cant say what we got in the inspection but........we are very pleased and can walk away with our heads held up high. the inspector was fantastic very approachable and lots of parents wanted to speak to her she listened, advised and noted all of the good things that the…

Could someone help me please. I have a staff member who is level 3, whose work is suffering. She struggles with the work load ie keeping learning journeys up to date, doing quality observations, raising the 2 year progress checks for some of her children etc. I as her manager and her supervisor have spoken spoken to her lots and lots of times and put in writing where we feel she is lacking and how we will support her. The lady in question improves for about 3 weeks and then slows down, starts moaning to other staff members and is becoming disruptive. On Friday I had another meeting with her and discussed with her where is is falling short and showed her the ev…

Hello Can anyone help with an issue that's arisen.... The staff all wished to have a set salary rather than the hourly rate. The hourly rate had problems as some months they'd get paid for 2 weeks some months 5, so they found it difficult to balance finances. So after trawling through years of pay info for them all the committee arrived at what they and I perseved to be fair and correct.....however the staff think they will not manage to do all the hours suggested and will have to pay the setting back in the summer for there shortfall. How do you all do the pay? I'm getting a headache!

Hi, two of my staff are redoing their First Aid certs and they have been told that it is necessary to have someone with an adult First aid qualification / First Aider at work to cover any accidents to staff or parents while they are on our premises. I wondered if it was maybe for places with more staff - we only have 4 staff..... does anyone know about this? Jo

staff ratios

just wondering about ratios/staff qualifications if you only have 2 members of staff. I've probably over thought this and got myself in a muddle so I'd be grateful for your thoughts.... We offer a late session between 4-6 pm after the nursery day finishes and only have a few children stay for this so only need 2 staff . Am I right in thinking that I couldn't have 1 staff level 3 and 1 unqualified (in training) for this period as Statutory framework says 1 must be level 3 and at least half of others level 2. What do you think?
