Does anyone have a policy on children wearing earrings in the setting? We have a young child who has had her ears pierced and is now wearing more dangly creole earrigns rather than studs. A couple of meembers of staff have commented on the suitability of them and whether they could potentially get caught during play

This is mainly to get this off my chest, and also im hoping for peoples opinions and advice where possible. Lety me try to explain the situation the best i can: We are a nursery that rents a room from a community centre, now this community centre is committee run. I won't go into the history but the current Chair has been in that position for 2 years now, and was elected in by mainly her friends, believe it or not and has nothing to lose except her position if the community centre was to "fail" and it is her 1st position has such, so experience is very lacking to say the least. Now, i feel strongly about having a good chair because obviously the running of the communi…

Just a bit of a poll really - I'm specifically interested in pre-school as opposed to day nursery really. Is the manager of your setting counted in the staff ratio? Does your manager have a group of key children? If yes to the above, how much paid admin/management time do they get a week? I currently have a day for admin but do LOTS in my own time. I have had two days a week for some of the time when we've had less children and I've managed to convince the Head that I need the time! We're school managed and I keep being asked to do more and more in the way of staff supervision, mentoring and data collection which all takes time away from my key working and I don't…

Is anyone in this position? If so how does it work? What happened when the school took over? How much do you have independence and how much does the school dictate what you do? Does anyone regret this decision? Thanks in advance.

Hello I wonder if anyone can answer a couple of questions for me..... Firstly I would like to know it you have a member of paid staff doing your admin? (preschools rather than nurserys) Secondly do your key workers take their children's files home to keep up to date or do they do them in the setting? Hoping someone can help

Morning All, I am in the process of migrating to Australia, and first part is having my qualifications checked my an agent. I sent them all off 2 weeks ago, and got them back last Saturday with a letter stating that the certificate I had sent for my Level 3 was not the overall certificate but confirmation of the units I have done. Long story short, I have been in touch with City and Guilds who have said that a certificate was never issued... AHHHHHHHH!!! This was in 2002 (when I completed). I am now a manager of a setting, and have done lots of other "level 3" jobs since then, one of which is completing the foundation degree. So, my cry for help is. I…
