Ages since I have had twins at pre-school........ In September I have identical twin girls starting with me.......I have started to 'allocate' children to their future Key Person(s) - my question is .........would you put them both with the same KP? I have at the moment - I'm thinking just one main point of contact for their family........but I'm really not sure about this......I certainly don't want or expect identical Learning Journeys......

Hello peeps. I need your wisdom on how to deal with one of my parents. Her child has attended our setting since september 2012. In January 2013 mum turns up one day after xmas hols and Informed us that her child was now in pants we then had 4 accidents later where child had no idea of accidents in his pants. This continued until half term hols in february with child having 3 to 4 accidents per 3 hour session and at times 2 members of staff were having to clean him up. Staff ended up very fed up with the situation as not only did mum not supply enough clean clothes but one week one of my staff pulled out a pair of pants that we had returned home in a nappy sack that the c…

Evening All, Looking for somewhere to vent so would appreciate any support/advice anyone may have. I have been off work for a few days and have been made aware that a parent has made a complaint about a member of staff whilst I was off. Although this is not a major CP issue, I feel that the LADO needs to be involved, mainly for reassurance and advice on my part. However, I am quite aware that there is a timescale of 1 day to contact and report incidents to the LADO and this time frame has now passed. Does anyone know if we are able to contact the LADO out of hours via our LA Safeguarding board? I am so worried that we haven't reported it in the given time fr…

Hi I have seen the topic ' interview for a nursery nurse' but I was wondering if anyone had a document of interview questions they use that you would be willing to share. We have a job advertised but our list of questions (from county) seem so outdated and not in line with the updated EYFS etc. If anyone is willing to share I would be very grateful. Thank you.

I'm wondering what people who work in/manage day nurseries would think if a teacher offered their assistance, and I do mean just voluntary and helping out, during school holidays (NVQ level 3, Early years degree and early years PGCE + SENCo in school role). Would that reaction be the same if said teacher was a parent at your setting? Maybe I won't even consider it when the holidays come around and I just want to spend every moment with my daughter, but just thinking....

I really don't know how to start a letter to a member of my staff - We are a small staff team (9 of us in total) and in September took on our 9th staff member a young (mid twenties) member of staff. A couple of weeks ago she was taken ill with suspected gall stones and has been off since the end of Feb as she hasn't been getting any better - today her dad came in to give me an update. It has now been discovered that she has an aggressive form of breast cancer and has probably had it for over 12 months (v. large tumour deep and therefore undetected) and cancer has spread to other organs. It has been truly awful having to tell the rest of my team and there have…

I have a member of staff who frequently talks to the children in the 'third person' and it is driving me mad! The person in question is in a temporary position until a suitable person is appointed. However, she is intending to apply for the post. The person whose post she is covering also talked to the children in this way and it was a relief when she resigned as she ignored my requests to stop doing this. I have used the forum to discuss this in the past and was given some very good advice and reasons why we should not use this way to talk to the children, but I cannot find the post! The temporary member of staff is very approachable and I'm pleased t…
