Hello I'm thinking of becoming incorporated. Is anyone already incorporated? If so how did you go about it? And how is it working out? I'd appreciated any thoughts or suggestions Thank you

Hi! Does anyone have a sample monitoring form they can share with me which shows how you have analysed the Protected Characteristics of the children in your Setting? For eg: how many boys, girls, SEN Ethnicity etc, & how you would cater for each group? I have a list for each group - but just very unsure of how this needs to be presented. Any samples would really help me (PLEASE!) to then make up my own - as relevant to our Setting. I am told by our EYFSA that we need to do one of these. Many thanks.

I will be interviewing candidates for the post of nursery nurse at some time in the coming weeks; does anyone have any advice with regard to good interview questions etc. The post is for a part-time (mornings only) nursery nurse within a maintained nursery unit. Thanks! :1b

Hi I just wondered whether anyone had any experience of T2 as a training provider, we have a member of staff doing a qualification with them but she is on her 3rd assessor since christmas and each one has told her to do it differently, just wondered if anyone else had used them?

Can I ask how larger settings make sure that all staff are aware of any issues eg health, a child might have, especially when there are quite a few changes of staffing during a week? We have very little wall space available for display (lots of windows) but feel that things need to be as obvious as possible so staff are reminded all the time.

Increasing Fees

Our fees for non-funded children have remained the same for around 4 years and our committee are now considering increasing them. However, one member suggested the fees for existing children should remain the same and the increase should only be brought in for new children joining next term. I was wondering what anyone else might think of this. To me this doesn't seem to be an inclusive practice, but one committee member suggested that banks don't offer the same deals to all customers and on this basis why should a nursery be any different.

I really need some help with this one. I have supported a member of staff for the last two years while she completed an early years foundation degree, as I have done with three before her, no problems at all been great to see them flourish. The three previous have topped up with 3rd year to BA Early Years and EYPS, one is still with me two eventually moved on. My problem is that now this staff member wants to do the next two years training to be a Primary Teacher and remain working for me, we are a nursery with children from 0-5. She wants me to sign an agreement with the uni that I will support her in this, which means that in Sept she is out for 4 weeks and in…

Dear All Just looking at staffing etc. I have a small group of b/after school children that we walk to school each day. Sessions vary from 1 child to 8. Does anyone know if staff on school runs have to have level 3 or can they be adults with CRB etc? What qualifications do yours have? We are a small setting so don't have lots of spare staff who can just pop out so wondered what others do, was thinking of just taking on some extra help with CRB. Thanks

Hi all I know this is an easy question but just want to make sure!!! when I started all that time ago in setting you could be employed and be a key person if you were working towards your level 2 (although some staff missed their 2 out and went straight to 3 and could do the same as well) is this still the case or do you now have to be qualified??

Hi all Have been lurking with interest for a little while since taking over as a manager of a pre-school but now need some of your pearls of wisdom if possible. Can anyone tell me what the ratios are for children aged from 2 to 4 years. We have a few sessions where a couple of children are 2 years old and the rest range in age up to 4 years old. Have looked in EYFS guidance which says 2 year olds ratio is 1:4 and 3 years and over is 1:8(I think but it is getting late!!) but nowhere does it say what is is for mixed age group. Is it 1:6 as one of my committee members(read bosses) says it is or is she trying to cut costs further?? Sorry if have rambled but all…
