Hi Hope someone can help me! I have an unqualified member of staff who I have encouraged to go to college and undertake a level 2 but she is saying that she will go but when is the question? Can I make her go? Besides that how should she be deployed? Should she be teaching groups of children or even be a Key Worker? Please help??????

If your local authority paid for a highly qualified and very experienced practitioner (who listened and you really liked - hehehe! ) to come into your setting two days a week for a fixed period to support you in any capacity, how would you use this resource (to enhance practice etc) and why?

I was wondering if anyone else has had any issues with Scotts Milk service supplying their milk for PVI nurseries? I signed up to them in August and the idea of it was fantastic, having milk delivered 3 times a week, with a free fruit box and free soya milk/formula. A couple of weeks into it, we had squashed fruit bags, deliveries went missing altogether or had items missing, very poor customer service skills unless i requested a supervisor, and now, even though i was told there would be nothing to do except to inform them of any changes in numbers.. Ive had to start making 2 validations a month, of which only their own seem to be going through, they keep claiming im…

Qualifications

Hi All I am some what confused, yes that is very easily done I know! I was under the impression that at the moment The Leader of a setting had to have a level 3 qualification and at least half of the remaining staff had to be qualified to at least a level 2. By 2015 the setting had to have somebody who was doing or had done the Early Years Foundation Degree and all other members of staff had to hold a level 3 or be working towards it. A local Tutor has recently told me that there is not anything that states all staff should hold a level 3 or working towards one. Could somebody please point me to the legislation that says that this is or is not the case ple…

Hello all!!! I have recently joined a Nursery in SW London as their Deputy Manager. I would like to ensure I provide accurate information to my managers and colleagues. The major concern I have regarding our daily practice is observing the staff handling food without wearing gloves and aprons. All members of staff serve foods like toasts, potatoes and snacks to the children using their hands without wearing gloves. I so do not agree with that! I would like your help in finding some sort of food handling requirement for nurseries. The food hygiene trained person is the chef, after a chat with him he ensured me the the gloves are needed only during the preparation of the fo…
