So, we have a small water heater that heats hot water it packs up, still under warranty so have to get hold of the people that fitted it. This was on friday 30th, couldn't get through leave message. why oh why towrds the end of term am i having issues!! We have a parent who is driving me mad....and believe me i have the patience of a saint Child started with us in September....lots of issues.....very difficult child but her parents are driving us mad, i am nearly at the point of telling them to go and find somewhere else! They are causing all the staff stress and i had the child's keyworker in tears this afternoon saying that she does not want to work with them any longer as she is worried that someday the child will tell the parents something untrue and they will believe her. (we record as much as we can and have good safeguarding in place but!.........) L…

Calculating annual leave

Hi all, I am in a new job (since September) and salaried, working full time Mon-Thur 8-6, as requested by the setting at my interview. Suits me very well to have a three day weekend! The setting closes over Christmas until 3rd January and I have requested holiday until Monday 14th. They tell me that this will be 9 days from my 2013 leave allocation, but I am not sure how this has been calculated and it seems a lot to me. I know there are different ways to calculate part-time employees, but I am not part-time. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Just wondering how you share children's health info with all staff. I have been thinking of having a file so that if a child has health related issues, dietary issues etc. it is in one place for staff to see, rather than trawling through files. What do you do? Thanks

Hi All, My friend has a nursery and one of her staff, who is also her partner, was accused by a a child under the age of 3 of hitting him and shouting at him. He was suspended immediately by my friend and LADO etc all informed. Parents then made an ofsted complaint. Ofsted came out and no actions founded for the setting. They then decided that they needed a professional meeting with Early Years (who was also the safeguarding officer), LADO, SS and Ofsted and my friend. She had no one to represent her or support her. They decided that he could return to work on office duties until Ofsted has interviewed him due to an unfounded allegation (which he was not even named in…

Hi, i am just after a general feeling of how many adults you have to children, especially in school maintained nurseries? How do you find your numbers, do you feel it is right or do you feel you need more staff? Thanks for as many inputs as possible x
