Afternoon all, I hope you are enjoying the sunshine I run a private day nursery in North London and we currently supply a cooked hot lunch and pudding to the children everyday. Due to some structural changes where we operate this will not be the case in September and I am looking to outsource the catering. Does anyone use a catering company who deliver quality hot meals every day in London? Many thanks.

Hello all Our staff had their last pay review in September (all staff had a 2% increase). I've just been reading about the minimum wage increase from April. 3 of our 8 staff are under the new minimum wage rate of £7.83 (unqualified). Come April would we just incase these staff members in line with legislative changes and the others remain as they are? I just want to make sure everything is fair for all Thanks in advance C

Has anybody else moved their pre-school from a village hall to a school site and succeeded? We are a small village pre school that has run from the village hall for the last 40 years but have struggled for children. I think we have exhausted all the children in the village who have been through me in the past so are relying on children from the outlying villages and towns. As a consequence of this the village school is really struggling. We are sending them 2 children this year and they will have only 4 in reception for September and 7 in Year 1. They are a junior school so only go up to Y2. In the past they haven't wanted much to do with us as we had asked a long time …

taken from their Facebook page as I know some don't use it. PSLA 30 hours provider survey Pre-school Learning Alliance Calling all early years providers! We need to hear from you! The Alliance is surveying all providers about their experiences of delivering the 30 hour offer, now that we've come to the end of the first year of the scheme's roll-out. On the importance of providers helping us to understand their practical experiences of delivering the offer, Alliance chief executive Neil Leitch said: "...now is a vital time for the sector to have its say on how well – or not – the scheme ha…

Would anyone be willing to share a list of the latest required contents for a children's nursery first aid kit that I could print off and use please ? Ideally with the 'source' and date of the information if possible. If anyone also has any good tips regarding first aid kit - i.e. best system to ensure contents replaced, in date and regularly checked would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, please could you clear up something for me? I will be phoning Ofsted tomorrow but I know how long that is going to take and also that potentially they will pass it back to provider to decide. When working out ratios - (We are a preschool and have 1 room). If you have two qualified staff members how many children can you have aged two years old and three/four years old? I have always understood it (and been told by Ofsted in the past) that 1 member can have 4 under 2's and the other can have 8 over 3's? This agrees with the EYFS. However if you only have 1 under two, do you bring down three older children into the two year old bracket to ensure they…

Hi We currently rent a classroom/garden from a local primary school, we have been there since September'09 and I own and manage the Pre-School. The primary school have recently become an academy and have approached me about the school taking over the Pre-School and employing me to run it. Has anyone else had this or already done this? Just looking for advice on how it went, does it work, do you regret doing it? The school are saying its my decision but I'm conscious of the fact they only have to give me 6 weeks notice if i say no. Thanks in advance.
