Hi I am a manager of a setting. We are are very pro-active in working as a tema and ensuring that staff ideas and thoughts are inputted into our everyday practice. We recently sent out our 6 monthly staff questionnaire which asks staff a variety of questions about how they feel in the workplace including how well the setting is managed and how valued they feel. These can remain anonomous if staff wish. I have had staff questionnaires back and overall we have had some good feedback, however two staff who I recognise through there handwriting have made very insulting, rude and unprofessional comments about individuals and the setting as a whole. I feel tha…

The council have today sent a generic email which states: NEF Terms and Conditions 2012 – 13 Please remember to sign and return your Provider Agreement Forms for the revised T&C’s – todate we have 80 forms outstanding which will mean a delay in payment. We have received enquires about the introduction of revising CRB’s for employees every 3 years. This is a local decision and not a national policy. The guidance to LA's allows for additional quality criteria to be introduced. We are currently exploring the possibility of providing funding to childcare providers during this current financial year to cover the cost of implementing this condition. The on-going cost…

What do you do when your job is to ensure things are done and you have staff that just seem to dig their heels in at every opportunity... frustrating hardly describes it! Does anyone else have staff issues?

Hi All, Sorry for the long post! We have a little girl that attends our setting aged 3 (have asked for advice about her on her before) we were told she was partially deaf by she has now been fitted with grommets and the hospital have said there is no hearing loss (they did a brain scan). We have got great concerns over her overall development and our area senco is involved and mum is on board. The problem we have is that we are having to constantly watch this child in order to keep her safe. This week already she has drawn all over the floor and cushions, tried to get out the fire exit, painted her tongue and lips, climbed onto the table and set off the alarm in …

Hello, can anyone tell me if they carry out peer observations in their settings, and if you do do you find them helpful? Do you use a set format for recording the observation and discuss with all staff or just the observed staff member? mrsb

I know this has been discussed before but I cant find it. One of our parents is against her child going outside because he has a cold/just getting over a cold/coming down with a cold! I need pointing to something from the EYFS hopefully or anything I can use in a newsletter. Inge has put some wonderful things in the resources concerning outdoor play and I'll be using some of that but I need something concise and to the point and I know I wont do that, I'll just go round the wrekin to say anything.

Does anyonw have a questionnaire that they give out to parents after their first half or full term please? I want to get parents views on settling, communication with key person etc. I could do one but thought I would ask here first to save me the time - cheeky I know but am snowed under at the mo (as no doubt everyone else is too!) Any ideas would be very gratefully received

Well what a day - 09.15 door bell rings and its Mrs O. I should have been at home but fortunately was at work for another meeting that I then had to cancel along with my lunch out!! Whole experience very positive and very different from the last inspection criteria - they finally want to see the staff and children - not the paperwork. My team were superb and didn't fall to pieces as they all thought they would. Glad its over though x

Anyone use/recommend any computer packages for admin/staffing/room planning purposes ? Have looked at a couple - one being Parenta, but not sure it will cater for our needs. All advice welcome, thanks.
