Hi all, I'm in the process of advertising for cover staff. We have always asked candidates to email a CV, however I understand under the new safer recruitment procedures we need to ask candidates to complete an application form. Does anybody have an example of an application form or willing to share theirs as a starting point for me please? ManyThanks Jo

We rent a local village hall to run our playgroup. Since we opened in september the toilets and kitchen have been cleaned once properly by the caretaker. The floors never been mopped. and the room is generally left untidy and dirty. We have to clean certain things before opening to make it suitable for the children coming in. we got informed today that the parish council are meeting on tuesday to discuss the caretaker's role and whether it should be taken over by someone else. She suggested that I write a letter to the parish council to inform them of what has been happening. I have wrote the letter and emailed it tonight and plan to post a copy to get there for mon…

For many years we allowed local authority advisers into our settings. The advice was poor, ill judged and ill informed. Many of the advisers had not worked in nurseries for many years...if at all. We therefore decided not to participate in the programme. As a result we improved our Ofsted grading from satisfactory to outstanding in two of our settings and good with outstanding features at the other two. Recently, the local authority has given £1000 per setting to implement the revised EYFS but we are excluded from this payment because we do not use their advisers. We still have to copy all the documents etc. Is this fair? sandwiched

This is a bit of a long winded one but for those of you who like myself have a term time only business where the majority of your income is early education funding have you given consideration to how you are going to find the funds to pay a 3% pension contribution for qualifying staff. As the wages bill is the busisness' single biggest outgoing a 3% increase in this bill is going to be potentially financially crippling. Although my business' pensions staging date is not until 2015 (and in practice not necessarily all my staff will qualify or wish to enrol) I am wondering how I find this potential 3% shortfall in my income as in theory this could apply to all of my st…

Because we have a staggered start in september and the local school only does half days for 3 weeks we have been approached by a couple of parents to see if we will have their children in the afternoons (after their morning at school) ....does anyone do this now? have you had any issues i might not have thought of? the children involved are great and will be able to cope with the change (in fact they'll love it!) I quite like the idea that we will have some with more experience in that group and it would be a bit of extra revenue, as well as helping these families out....any thoughts???

Redundancies And Closure

Hi All, Jut after some advice please, last week I dismissed my manger at my one setting for hindering an investigation into facebook comments etc (told the girls to lie to me), we went back into place ( I manage my other setting) and found paperwork etc to be all out of sorts, so we were geting everything back into place as she was useless and low and behold on Thursday Ofsted turn up for inspection. All was going well and then she found a medicine form completed by the 'manager' with no date or child's name! I was heartbroken, made us an instant inadequate! The children have dried up in the area and LEA agree with me for this. I know feel that I have no choice but to…

Equality & Diversity Training
by Guest- 0 replies

I really need help. I am going to undertake a whole staff training approach for equality and diversity on a shoestring. Training now costs £65 per person in our area and our setting really cannot afford it. I have undertaken training before and made powerpoints, activities etc for staff to get involved with the training so am ready for this challenge. However, my last equality & diversity training notes were prior to the Equality Act 2010. Can anyone help me please - does anyone have any paperwork, notes, training packs or can tell me how to access this in order for me to prepare a training pack. I will happily re-share it back when completed. Thank yo…
