Hi we are in the early stages of looking into changing our premises and was wondering if anyone has done this and got any advice . We are currently running in a church hall but are very limited with sessions therefore we wanted somewhere where we could offer am/pm sessions as well as full day. I have got a meeting on monday with a headteacher of a school who has said there is land for us to put a building up which we will have to get alot of funding for. i dont even no where to start!

Hi there, just wondering whether anyone can help. We have a child with two folders - one is their development folder and they will get that when they leave. The other folder is full of comments and concerns and is close to being a safeguarding concern (there isn't enough for it to be taken that far yet). The parent's live apart and the absent parent would like to see the other folder. This parent is incredibly caring and very worried about the other parent's care of their child. Am I able to show this to the absent parent or would they need a solicitor's request? Thankyou, Spiral :-)

Hi! Our Nursery is part of a Primary school with a SENCo covering the whole school (EYFS - Y6). A child in our setting, who has some learning difficulties, is moving to school in September. As a maintained nursery we work 1:13 and have coped remarkably well with his needs  . However, school (and we!) are concerned he won't cope without support. He has an IEP and we the Ed Psych has been to see him ,so ihe is at EYAction+. School are applying for emergency funding for when he goes into school but are being asked for information about the support he has had up to now. The SENCo says that at EYA+ he should already have 8 hours shared support a week, which he does fr…

Hi Everyone Does anyone have experience of payroll? I've got a member of staff off sick. I orginally told her that she wasn't entitled to ssp (as she hadn't paid any national insurance for the eight weeks previous) infact non this tax year. She has questioned this as she has looked on Direct gov and you need to earn over £107 pw to be entitled to SSP. I rang LAWCALL (PLA) and they confirmed that you need to 'pay in to get out' I then began to wonder why the payroo system hadn't taken NI but found the limit £146. But by earning £107 you can earn the benefits???? Is this a new thing from April this year??? Is this right???? and if so she no…

im in the process of compiling a preschool budget -broken down into the 3 terms, then an overall ongoing annual budget. so -my dilemma is -as we are sessional and open for 38 weeks -we only recieve fee's for 38 weeks, but our outgoings spread over 52 weeks. so - do i work my budget out over 38 weeks - or 52 ?? i know either way i will need to break down the incomings over the 52 or break down the outgoings over 38 -but which is the best ? as it should all balance out anyway over the whole year ? what does everyone else do ? just spent hours doing very posh spreadsheets - in the hope that i can monitor it on a weekly basis lol !!

Just heard that one of our nearly 3 year olds has broken his leg over half-term and was wondering if any of you have any experience of managing a child with a broken leg in your setting. I'm assuming that we can accept the child, I would certainly want to. I presume I would have to assess the risk to him and to others within the setting? He attends for comes two mornings per week. We could not afford to put in extra staff though. First a member of staff in plaster with a broken thumb now this! Life is never dull!

Please help..In September my group will only be left with two qualified members of staff. I am the manager and I have a deputy and we are both level 3's, I work every morning with the children and my deputy works four mornings. We have two assistants and one of them works two mornings and one of them works three mornings but neither of them is qualified. AHHHH.....We have asked one of them too train to a level 2 and have found a company that will come to the setting and do the training that way; and she is considering it. Obviously if she will not train we need to employ someone ASAP who is qualified. My question is... If she does train will that be sufficient to cov…

Hi all We are coming to that time of year again where we review our fees I was wondering, how much if at all you were thinking of putting up yours to? 3 hour session currently £3.20 per hour - we are in the Midlands We found out last week that our funding has gone down, and so our fees are currently more than funding. Many thanks
