Hi all, newbie to the site so I am exploring! Do any of you welcome other settings staff in to visit your setting and then you go visit them in return? This is to help to share ideas and build relationships and I would love to visit other settings near us in essex but some of our local settings are reluctant because we are "competition" as such and they think we will steal their ideas etc. Sad, as we should all work together really and help each other, but true! Just curious what your views are on this, would you allow another setting to visit you? Thankyou

Is This Fact Or Rumours?

Hi my manager keeps coming out with little facts she says will need implementing in Sept. Examples include all staff must attend 4 training courses a year, our health and safety person must have level 3health and safety and go on a 3 day course, (I have level 2), all new staff must learn how to do a CAF on induction and many more! I have read the statutory framework numerous times and development matters and can't find anywhere what she is talking about! Is this in some other publication or is it just rumour do you know?

Just wondered if anybody has any thoughts on employing a person with a criminal record that was issued some years ago. They state the crime was for shop lifting after getting mixed up with the wrong crowd. I am nervous on employing a person with this history but also want to be fair. Has anybody got an opinion on this as would love to hear it.

Hi It's that time of year when all parents have been sent a questionnaire and they are beginning to return them (well some are!!). A couple of parents have commented that they would have liked more information on their child's first day, and introduction to all the staff etc etc. Fair comment I thought, however I am now looking at how to introduce a new parent induction morning or afternoon as feel this would be easier. At present when parents express an interest in the setting they come in to have a look around meet myself and the staff, discuss the EYFS and how we provide for the children in our care, issue them with a prospectus. This always takes place during s…

We have a issue in our setting with 1-1 we now have 2 children who both need 1-1. At the moment the staff team are shareing the 1-1 but i wanted to ask for some advice. From my experience 1-1 always had to be the same person because the idea is for the child to build a relationship and bond with that child. can any1 tell me what they do in they settings or weather you know weather 1-1 should be shared or 1 person. Thank You

HI, a really quick question - i am not actually a manager but wanted managers opinions I have had an allegation made against me from a parent who claims that her child has said i have done something to them. Now as of yet i don't know what that something is. I am confident i have not done anything and am sure the allegation will prove unfounded (we have cctv in the rooms) and the owner said she had reviewed the footage and did not think i needed to be worried, the manager will review it on wednesday and they will contact the lado on wednesday. anyhow, i had a meeting with owner and manager on friday night and they told me about the allegation but no other info as …

Hi all, With regards staff taking medication - New EYFS framework - no 3.17 How are you dealing with this sensitive issue? We have been advised to keep updated information regarding all staff medication but I am a little unsure about how to go about this as it needs to be handled very carefully so as not to cause offence. How would you log it, how often would you update your records etc? Thanks for you advise Radish

I'm planning to put some of our policies on the website, and wondered which ones to put on. Obviously I can't put them all on - well, I suppose I could, but I really only want the main ones. We use the PSLA ones and I have contacted the and they say it's ok, well, 'I can't see why not' was the actual reply. So, if I'm only going to put a selection on, which do you feel they should be?

HI guys, im in a bit of a predicament, ive been invited to a child protection conference for a key child of mine. Now i know that other agencies have a report format that they fill out and present to the social (Key) worker, clarifying what evidence they have. But as a setting we dont have one? Does anyone use a format they would share with me as i want to be a professional as possible? Any help would be great Petunia
