Hi I wonder if anyone has a risk assessment they could share or knows of a good pro-forma that could be adapted? we are looking to revamp our risk assessments into something that does the job but is more manageable. I don't know how everyone else does it but we have a big one that covers everything; building, outside area the works, which is completed yearly and then daily check lists that to be honest are a real pain to keep up with. We end up with mountains of paperwork and sometimes just wish we could get on with taking the children out rather than keeping up with ticking boxes all the time. I notice that the new EYFS says that it is up to the providers jud…

We have a wonderful member of staff who has transformed our after-school room! As a project for over the summer holidays she wants the children to write their own script, make costumes, etc etc and film it! The major down side is the film footage would have to be taken off site to be edited!!!!!!!! Please can you give me any of your thoughts or opinions on this!

Hi Hope you can offer some insight into my little Monday morning problem. One of the deputies fell over a few weeks ago whilst at the setting taking a short cut by climbing over a child's settee. At the time she said she was OK, a few days later she said she bruised her wrist and knee. Then at the weekend she went to A&E who say she MAY have broken her wrist but not showing on X-Ray, will need a scan, and was given a splint to wear. However, she would not put it on today even though I said she should as she said she can't do anything with it on. Having a possible broken wrist has not appeared to hinder her work today. She says she doesn't want to do an…

Can anyone help with regards to peer on peer observation or annual staff appraisals. Do any of you carry out peer on peer observations and what do you think about them - how do you do them so that the staff don't get offended! I have avoided them for so long but with the new EYFS making staff appraisals a must I know I have to take the leap now - such a baby I know. Appreciate any help.
