I am looking at starting a mums and tots group in the village hall we use for playgroup. Does anyone have any advice what I need to do? Do you only run them during term time the same as playgroup or all year round? Do you charge and if so, how much? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, just after a littlle advice/support. We've had a dad complain. He first of all spoke to me and I thought we'd sorted it out, then he returned a couple of weeks later and complained again, stating he had wanted an email acknowledging his first complaint and then popped in the sentence he had thought of going to ofsted. I have been unable to reply without speaking with my chair (who has been away on business), and our policy states a written reply is the last thing we do. Dad has come back in and complained again - this time in a letter. The committee are back together this week (everyone's been sick or away so there wasn't anyone to resp…

Notice For My Notice Of Resignation?
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi all, haven't been on in a while but could do with a little advice r.e. notice of resignation. I have been accepted onto a PGCE early years course in september full time (v exciting!) and therefore am leaving my wonderful preschool and role as deputy, a hard decision but the right one, and the staff and committee have been very supportive of this decision, for which I am very lucky and will miss the group dearly. The plan (created by staff as a team) is another member of staff will step up to my role as deputy and a new assistant would be hired to cover additional hours plus any relief work. We are committee run and the current committee, despite knowing since last Sep…

We would like to start a home school link book to use at out nursery, but don't want it to become something that we have to fill in everyday as time will not allow. Plus don't want to burden parents with too much to reply to etc . Does anyone already do home school communication books,if so how is yours set out? All advise greatly received :1b

Hi, just a quick question we have a brand new office space, and are busy sorting out all the files etc. I want to lock some documentation away so the cleaner and general staff have limted access to them only me, deputy and administrater will have full access. can you tell me if I can lock the staffs personnel files away or should they be able to freely access them, recently there was an incident of a member of staff going through her file and challenging me as to why i had documented a conversation about her conduct, and how long it stays on her file.. i did tell her i would be doing so. thanks

Hi there, we have a sticky problem. One of my committee members would like to make a complaint regarding his child's care. He has stated he'd be happy to go to Ofsted, so it needs the committee to discuss and think on it, however it's a committee member who is making the complaint so.... How do we hold a meeting - is it reasonable for us to hold a meeting without inviting this committee member? Any thoughts please, Spiral :-)

i will never be able to get my head around mixed age ratio's - i have tried, but i have come to the conclusion that my age is preventing it from 'sinking in' lol !!! so - if i have 2 under 3's and 14 over 3's how many staff do i need / how many would you have in your setting ?
