We are looking at accomodating 2 year olds and have been advised on a more accessible, less prescriptive approach. Training has also highlighted no templates or shapes just differents sized, textured and coloured paper. What do people do for their display boards?

Hi all Just wondered what you think. School club is closed over the Easter holidays due to no heating, electric and water as the school is having improvement works. Having to signpost parents to other places. Staff are now querying about their pay. Good Fri and Easter mon they get paid holiday pay. Of course there is no way we can insist that they take the rest of easter holidays as holiday. As a club we are ok for money so should we pay staff (I know my own setting would no way be able to afford this and we would not be paid!). Club is funded totally by fees ie no funding however it is still a charity so is this allowed? Its not staff fault we cant open. Not really…

I received on Friday our new yearly contract from Essex County Council, at the moment the 38 weeks run summer/autumn/winter term which is always a bit confusing! Anyway the weeks have always been 12 for summer 14 for autumn and 12 for spring, however according to the contract this has changed for the next academic year!! We have been informed that the summer term will be 13 weeks autumn 14 weeks and spring 11 weeks (bear with me I have spent a whole weekend trying to get my head round this!). So this means instead of finishing on Friday 13th July we will have to work an extra work until the 24th (same as the schools) if you worked it out from September it means 39 weeks i…

Just wondering what people are planning for world book day? Last year we asked children to bring in favourite books throughout the week which we then shared. This was lovely, but I would welcome any other ideas!

Where do I start?? If you were told this how would you go about making cuts? We have tried limiting snacks but to be honest, this only saves pennies We don't run to ratio we are over by 2 now many have turned 3 (1 being me as the manager) this is where I know we could cut, but then come September as most of our children are 2 when they start we would need to take someone on (recruitment is a nightmare in this area) Fundraising is not happening this year, you may have seen another post on this, I know we shouldn't rely on this but we always have had to, and in doing so have survived for 45 years!!

Hi - Can anyone help?? I think it was on here (quite recently??) that somebody had posted a link to a website which demonstrated the correct pronounciation of letter sounds. Does anybody recall this?? If so - could you point me in the right direction please - we are having a parent workshop tomorrow & will be showing the parents the examples on the letters & sounds dvd but was hoping to give them this website as a point of refernce too. Many Thanks
