I know I have read on the forum about settings who have gone from committee run to privately run, but cannot find the threads. Can someone point me in the right direction. We have struggled to find committee members for a while now and would just like to consider all options. Many thanks

Hi, Could someone point me in the right direction or give me their views. Our head states thar no teacher should change wet or soiled children if they are not fully toilet trained. We may be having some children who are developmentally and emotionally have nappies as they come into nursery. Under the understanding of EYFS and the care and education standards and also as part of inclusuion. Where do we stand with this. Surely it cant be jusy one persons policy to exclude these children. EYFS has the childrens welfare and the child and its family at its heart!! Could someone please advise. Many thanks

Happy Monday! Just wondering who sorts out your payroll. I am the Finanaical Administrator of a small pre-school and I sort the payroll every month, including my own wages, all tax/Ins. The treasurer then pays the money into the employees bank accounts. Do you out source the payroll or if you have a committee, does the Treasurer do this or oversee it? Thanks again

Hi On our registration it says provides care in the following areas, main hall, library area, classroom with kitchenette, early year's classroom, adjacent playgrounds and associated facilities (Early Years Register, compulsory part of the Childcare Register, voluntary part of the Childcare Register What are the associated facilities? School has got building works ie new windows being done and they need to do the classroom we are based in. Ok as we can use the hall. Now a teacher wants us to move out of the hall one night so she can do extra curricular/after school drama and for us to use her classroom. Hellooo all! I went back to work today as Nursery Supervisor after 9 months maternity leave! I have spent the day catching up with staff and meeting and observing children....I ALREADY have a question!! My newest member of staff has been with us for a year but only went on her EYFS training last month. She was told that there is no need to do long observations on children in the setting and when she told the group how we do them and how often, the majority of them commented that they dont do them at all anymore. Have i missed this since being away or do other settings still do long obs??

Hi I am hoping some of you lovely people can help me out please???? Tomorrow - been given very short notice. I need to explain to parents why we are doing phase one of letters and sounds. It is not enough for them to just be told we are. They want to know why and despite explaining that the purpose is to develop childre's listening skills they are not convinced that us changing the small group times is to benefit there child. I am especially struggling to get this past the committee grrr. We have 6 children out of 20 with delayed speech and language hence why without a doubt we need set times during the day to spend 5 to 10mins focusing on developing lette…

For anyone in Kent either with your own childen at school or who runs a setting/school visit: http://www.kentclosures.co.uk This sit is run by KCC and informs parents who register with the site of their child's school being closed by text. For those who run a setting/school, you need to register your setting\log in using the tiny blue mortar board in the top right hand corner of the screen. There are rules and regs so please do make sure you read them - especially the bit about logging back in for the first time as your setting may be seen as 'closed' if you don't activate the link. Lets hope the snow doesn't make our lives too awkward this time though…

hi all, i work in a private nursery which has an owner, a manager, 2 co-ordinators and me (the EYP). i work half the week in the setting with the children and team as a key person and the other half doing 'eyp' duties. the trouble is i dont actually know what is expected of me, i havnt recieved a job description and as there is a manager and two co-ordinators it feels as though there isn't enough 'jobs' to do and that i'm stepping on peoples toes. i have asked for a job description but still none as yet. being the key person is fine i know where i am but its not actually my job to deal with staff etc. i have been told it is expected of me to implement the eyfs ful…
