Can anyone help me by sharing an emergency plan or policy. I'm looking to put in place a written plan about what we do in the event of flooding, fire etc...an extended period of closure. This should include how we cope with paying/not paying staff in the event of... reimbursement of fees, insurance etc... any help would be appreciated....thank you in anticipation

Hi all - Hoping you can help a friend out with this query, as I'm not familiar with the EY2 forms and how critically they're viewed by Ofsted:

I know that there have been postings about how long to keep documents on the forum but can't find them at the moment, so decided to ask again!! I am sorting out years of paper work and I am going to be very strict but don't want to throw anything important out. * Registration forms from parents - they contain personal information (health, etc) as well as contact numbers, etc. * accident/incident forms * payment sheets which are signed by parents * Government funding forms completed by parents * All permission forms relating to taking photos, leaving the premises to go on walks inthe area, etc Hopefully you are able to help me with this - I just wish…

Need a little help here...... we are now going to be serving the children more than just fruit and toast. We will now be serving pasta, beans on toast, cheese on toast, spaghetti etc.... Do I need to contact HSE (Health and Safety Executive) and do we need a certificate? We have one member of staff who has recently attended food safety in catering. Would be great to hear what other pre-schools think. Look forward to hearing from you all Thanks in advance

Hi, not sure if you will be able to help me but im at my wits end.. with a situation in my setting. I have a 4 year old child in my setting who I think is on the autistic spectrum, and dont know how best to support his needs and help him. parents a refusing any form of outside help, but have allowed me to contact LA who have come into setting and hold the same view as me. after a long slog and numerous meetings parents have agreed to some level of 1:1 and we have recieved funding for this.. but they still wont allow the outreach team to come and assess him. I'm stumped now each week we see a decline in his behaviour, and interactions with the group I have…

Verbal Or Written Warning
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi all Asking as chair of committee.... One staff member did not turn up for morning shift at school club. No notice given, did not answer mobile, phone etc. Did not get in touch with manager until late afternoon (by text...when I ask staff to call) following urgent messages left for him. Apparently his mobile is his alarm and he left it in the car! Ok so not an emergency then. Normally would issue verbal warning. However he did this exactly a year ago. He was issued a verbal warning then. I know it stays on file for 6 months and is then disregarded but is this still the case when it is for exactly the same thing? Just wondered what you would do...going to try AC…

Or is it just me? We have a really hard bunch of children this year, very young development wise (not age!) they are struggling with even sitting up unaided (at 2.5yrs) don't understand 'no' or just go into complete melt down every time they are asked to do something Parents not supporting fundraising, or even just day to day things Committee not doing their roles, lovely people but don't just seem to 'get it' Full on numbers but waiting list people really getting nasty because their child can't start (our schools all do 1 entry in Sept) so they will all probably go somewhere else. So low on money we've had to cut staff not sure how much longer we can stay afloat …

I have just received a free copy of Teach Nursery and they are offering 3 issues for £5.00 and then £9.58 every three issues thereafter. Has anyone taken up this publication and if so what do you think of it? Thanks Sue J

Hi I just wondered what wages software people are using, we are currently using sage but it seems to be more expensive to renew it this year, is anyone using anything different?

My pre-school has started meeting up with a couple of other pre-schools in the area to network, share best practice etc. Early days yet but seems to be going well. Anyway someone had the idea of doing a joint fundraising event to raise money for some large item or resource which we could all take turns to share, but wouldn't be able to afford on our own. I'm supposed to come up with a 'wish list' but I'm struggling for ideas - so used to trying not to spend money I suppose! (I have to stress no money has been raised yet so it's all hypothetical at the moment anyway!) Any bright ideas out there?
