Has anyone been in the situation where the only person to come forward as interested in the position of chair is someone they really feel they cannot work with? What did you do? My current (wonderful) chair is planning on giving up later this year, but someone has expressed interest in becoming chair who has caused real problems for us recently - she made a big fuss over a trivial matter and reaqlly got the staff's back up. There really isn't anyone else who is an obvious choice, and I'm really worried. I know if she's elected I have no say, but this is causing me sleepless nights already! I have heard of a group running with a committee but no chair - does anyone els…

I have searched the forum but can't find the post and I am sure I asked on here last time for this. I am after the poem that is about a parent with a child with disabilities describing how it likes booking a hol to go to one place and ending up somewhere else. While intially they were disappointed it ended by describing what a wondeful holiday they ended up having. I am hoping someone knows what I am going on about lol

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. I opened my playgroup in september and we are only open 3 hours a day during school term time. My question is do you still pay your staff for all the school holidays or how do you do it. It just seems a lot to pay out in the summer holidays when there is nothing coming in from the children. Advice please!

Just wondering......................receieved a letter from our LEA this morning, advising that, following consultation with settings in our county, ALL settings will receive the same amount of funding from April this year.( I voted for everyone to receive the same) Ours is currently set at £3.86 per hour, and schools at £4.10, childminders get £8.96.............so I'm trying to figure out what the new rate will be? Do other counties do this? I'll obviously be pleased if our rates go up ( for the Spring terms, I think mine is going to drop to £3.59 as we have quite a few more children accessing the FE)..........interesting!

I have a child who started at Preschool in September. On her booking form it says she has occasional night-time asthma and when I queried it with Mum I was assured that it was very rare and only was a cough at night sometimes. Now, in late October Mum came in and spoke to our youngest member of staff and said that the child is hypoglycaemic and here's a tube of stuff to squirt into her mouth if she needs it. Mum then left quite quickly and my member of staff brought the tube of 'stuff' over to me asking what she should do with it. I explained that Mum should have brought it to me really, as I'd need to complete a medication form and get a signature before we admini…

I know this seems random and my partner was laughing when he asked was i going to ask this but hey i'm sure someone will come up with a solution- i have spent 2 days reorganising cupboards and resources , the jigsaws and puzzles need to be contained, at my previous setting the supervisor made envelope type wallets from a plastic type fabric. I have visited staples today and purchased some document wallets and the plastic zip folders were wrong size and very expensive so any ideas please
