Hi just a bit of advice on interview questions. Interviewing for a 1:1 for a boy who has autistic tendencies and behaviour problems. have all teh usual questions for a nursery nurse but any ideas for more specific questions about autism. Today he 'politely' told me to go away as i had to stop him doing something that would hurt others! thanks

Hi, I've just opened my playgroup and have not had much experience of learning journey's before as been in a school that didn't use them. Has any one got any advice to help me get them right? Also, how do you keep track of things you have observed to avoid observing the same thing over and over and to make sure you cover everything! Hope this makes sense. I am looking forward to your answers! Thanks

Hi everyone We had an staff day last week and a few queries came up... One of them was about the accident book. We currently use a form (that I found on here a while ago - see attachment) that we make into a spiral bound book. One of the headings of the form is 'accident layout' - do we always need to draw a layout of the area where the accident took place? I thought we did so that when we look back through the forms for risk assessment purposes we can see if there are any common areas where accidents took place..... Do any of you lovely people know the answer to this?? Many thanks Accident_Record_Form.doc

Our setting runs from a church hall , where everything is pack away. We currently store children's records, accident, incident, registers in a metal locked filing box and we currently have about 6 years worth of paperwork, I know we have to keep (most) for 21 years. Problem; this box is now fit to bursting, and I can't fit in this years registration forms in it! Buying a new locked box isn't a problem but STORING it is!! Question; where do you store your old paperwork?

Having never been faced with an issue like this before I want to ask what others would do. In a committee run group, faced with an incident which clearly breached a couple of fairly core policies and the action was openly discussed with me by staff member (so suggesting they were clearly unaware what they had done was wrong - and I dont believe it would have happened if child concerned had not been that of a close family friend)...would you deal wth it informally - one to one meeting, recorded and signed by you and employee so employee is reminded of policies, warned that another case would result in formal action? This is my initial thought... Also if I do go down…

Here's an interesting one....... I understand that the Supervisor must be level 3 and 50% of the remaining staff must be qualified.... OK got that bit.... My Supervisor spoke to OFSTED who confirmed that clearly this is the case and we can't include a 'working towards' member of staff as qualified, and that everyone needed to meet ration must meet this 50% requirement. My question is that if we have 7 children (all aged 3) could the session be run by myself (level 4) and an unqualified member of staff? What do you think? Thank you!

im hoping someone can help clarify a sticky situation for me ! we run preschool sessions and mums and toddlers. i used to run the mums and toddler group that we ran twice a week - i had to stop as the preschool sessions increased, the commitee took it over and came in to run it -basically set up the room -make tea -snacks etc -parents stay with their children and are responsible for them. it has kind of evolved over the past few months, and although i no longer run it -we are still under the same umbrella, we are covered by the same insurance, and i have a few concerns. the committee member who runs it is preparing large elaborate meals for snack -last week the…

Hi, sorry for a really sad post, but I'm feeling a bit numb and can't get my brain in gear. My Deputy died suddenly of a massive heart attack this morning. What do I need to do, do I notify Ofsted? the taxman (she'd been on SSP since Easter, but it was 'in house' not money sent by the taxman to pay her)? what?? How do I tell the Preschool parents? I'm hoping none of you have been in this position, but may know what I do now.
