Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.... I was under the illusion that there needs to be a named deputy at every preschool setting. However, I cant lay my hands on anything that actually specifies this. The question has arisen as a friend has lost her deputy and doesn't want to have a named deputy as such!? Could anyone clarify this for me please? Thanks.

At our setting the children generally arrive and leave at about the same time. There are no other arrival or leaving times. The children self register on arrival by collecting an apple with their name on and hanging it on the apple tree. At the same time a member of staff is ticking off arrivals in the register / At the end of the morning another tick \ is entered as the child is handed over to parents. If anyone arrives or leaves at a different time the time is entered instead of a / or \. We have recently been told by a local advisor that OFSTED would not be happy with this and parents must sign children in and out. Is this correct? If it is and others do it how o…

We are receiving an Sen premium for a child still with us in September, the extra funding is being used for 1:1 support for the child, mum has informed me they are going away for 2 weeks end of September. My question is does the member of staff still come in even though the child she is employed for wont be there, and I assume she still gets paid? The additional funding covers some of her wage but not all of it. Kris

Hi there I don't know if anyone else is in the same situation as we are but thought I would put this one out there - I have a pack away setting in a church hall with three loos only - we are a sessional setting and if staff need the loo during the session we use one of the three available loos (making sure its clean first!) HOWEVER we are registered for 30 children per session on the basis that we have three loos (eg 10 children per loo) which has always been ok with ofsted. I note from the eyfs review up for consulation that from 2012 (assuming it will get the green light) that there must be a separate loo for staff therefore a dilemma - I am currently in…
