Complaints

Can anyone help? I am in the process of updating the nursery prospectus and, ashamedly, have never included the Ofsted address for complaints. I have made the complaints procedure very clear, but it has stopped with the headteacher. So now I want to include the Ofsted address but am struggling with the wording; I want to make it clear that it should be the last 'port of call' ... any ideas?

Is anyone able to substantiate my current thinking? I can nominate a member of staff to be my Deputy without them taking the Responsible Person Interview with Ofsted. This Deputy could run the group in my short term absence still without the Ofsted Interview I don't need to formally let Ofsted know who my Deputy is or fill in any forms. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Just wondering what you all use for Registers. We currently do our own because we haven't found one that has spaces to enter time in and out. Although it works fine it is time consuming sitting and ruling the lines and entering dates individually etc. TIA

Hi This sounds quite mean but you know when you have a parent that you can't wait until they move on in July with their child!! Well we had one this year and unfortunatly she has been in touch to say she is signing up for a level 2 chidcare course and could she complete her work experience with us! I know there isn't much I can say other than "that would be lovely" , but I do have a few concerns with regards confidentiality as she is good friends with a couple of parents still with us and obviously would be involved in our meetings etc when children are discused. Some parents moan about her to us as they find her rude and abrubt at the gate (she is Hungarian with b…

Hello I am just updating the nursery (maintained) prospectus. Does anyone have a prospectus they would upload or perhaps a 'contents' page? Thanks!

Advice Please!

Anybody got any practial tips or words of advice about how to deal with staff who will do anything to avoid a direct interaction with the children......they are often found out of ratio etc etc The staff member in question is actually a room leader so this is causing a lot of resentment from other staff. She has been verbally spoken to (in a kind manner) about what we expect of her, but we are now wondering what the next step is.....perhaps it is to do with her confidence? how can we best support her? any ideas appreciated!

Asthma

Hello - does anyone have a form/questionnaire that they ask parents to complete if their child has asthma and that they would be willing to share? It would need to include things like: How severe, what are the triggers, name of medication, will medication be kept at school? etc. I used such a form for parents many years ago when working in a pre-school, but have nothing in my school nursery; I didn't keep it when I left and my memory is not what it was!

Hi, I held an open day for my new pre-school on saturday and only had 3 parents turn up (they all registered their children) and we have 2 more children registered. Although they are all only signed up for 2 days a week. I was hoping the wonderful people on here may be able to offer me some advice on how I can attract more parents to register their children. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks xx

Hi, We currently use the pink PLA book for recording accidents and parents sign the book, but the Local Authority have told us that we now need to be using sheets that are carbonated so that a copy goes home with the parent as well as stays on file. I asked where they suggested we obtain these books from and was told NCMA. However, have just visited their website and as I'm not a member was a little scared by their prices and don't fancy keep having to buy refills as we're quite an accident prone bunch! So I was wondering what do the rest of you use? I know I could make my own but I don't fancy having to write the same information out twice when I've already fil…
