Can someone remind me or point me in a direction of a list of exactly what we need to keep in terms of accident forms, registers etc, and for how long. Can you also then let me know where you are storing these things? We have moved out of our old premises where all paperwork has always just gone into the loft space, so will need to sort out this paperwork and make an action plan as to where to store it and new stuff in the future. We are a committee run pre-school and at our committee meeting we did talk about scanning things and keeping things on computer, but weren't sure if this was possible. Thanks Clare

Nursery Waiting Lists
by Guest- 13 replies

I have just taken over my school Nursery in June and wondering what policies people follow in admitting new Nursery children? Currently we have a waiting list and children are admitted in age order, however we often have people who put their child on the waiting list as soon as their child was born yet have to wait longer as their child is not yet 3 when the admissions are done for Sept. When their child does turn 3, there are no places for them until the following Sept! I have tried to give prioriity to families with children already in school but still feel like the system is muddled. What do other settings do in terms of admissions?

Hi, Would just like your advice on this. I am opening a pre-school in September. I will be qualified to a level 5. Am I covering the EYFS requirements if I have a level 2 worker who is studying for level 3 and a unqualified who is working towards a level 2 as well as myself or do I need someone who is already a level 3? I know I should probably know this, but my mind seems to have gone blank!!! Thanks

We had put off our fee increase whilst we decided on new premises but after 2 years of no increase in fees or wages its time for use to look at it again. Also i think since i will be effectively opening a new setting, i think its time to look at the sessions on offer too. So if some of you wouldn't mind sharing your general location, main sessions and costs i would be really grateful Location: Liverpool Sessions: 3yrs+ 8-9am £3.00 9-1pm/1-5.30 £12.10 9-4pm £20.50 f/s collection £13.10/18.80 8-5.30 £29.20 [*]3-5.30 £7.30 all prices inclusive of lunch and snacks Thanks Ali x

Hi all This is a question about school club and would like to know where we stand. We already make a loss over the 6 week holidays as the numbers of children booked in vary so much from 5 to 16 per day. Been contacted by Breaks in Partnership who are coming to meet with manager on Thurs about possibility of a child with additional needs coming to holiday club. Its a bit late for us to organise staffing etc. She would not give any further details until she meets with manager ie what their needs were, funding etc. My concern is that do they pay the daily rate that others pay..great for being inclusive but as a business we will be losing a lot of money if the child n…

Hi all, How long is your staff notice period? We don't seem to lose staff frequently, but over the last few years we've had staff either move away or retire. Each time it's been a nightmare trying to replace the staff member within the 4 week notice period that we have. I was just wondering if 4 weeks for a notice period is the general length or time or do you guys have a longer time frame in place for staff leavers? Thanks in advance. Nicky

HI all, well my manager is off sick for the next week (she was off last week too) i am the assistant manager but am normally room based most of the time.... hence i am not always up to speed on what is going on in the office side of the nursery. i have spent the last week in the office, kind of picking up the pieces and surviving (just). My nursery is part of a chain so my manager has her own boss and he does not like me or the manager...... he also has concerns about our nursery (low occupancy!)....... anyhow....... there are several issues, if i lay them all out i would appreciate thoughts, thanks: 1) My managers boss questions my managers capability as man…
