Who Do Staff Turn To?

Some sound advice needed please. If preschool staff have issues regarding the way a manager runs the setting and have approached the manager with their concerns and nothing has come of it, so they then raise their concerns with the chair of the committee and still nothing is resolved, who do we turn to? We have weekly staff meetings where we are supposed to be able to air our concerns, but we feel we are not being listened to. A member of staff from another preschool has told us to speak to Ofsted, but I have read that they do not deal with "in house disagreements" so to put it, so long as the children are not being put at risk "which they are definitely not".…

Hi there, I am currently covering the role of treasurer too - the fees are processed using a package that's great, however, the spending/projection bit is a mess, and I'm currently using Excel. Is there a simple package that I could purchase or am I better staying with excel? Thank you, Spiral x

We have a Management Committee who oversee the work of our Playgroup. They are made up of community representatives and were responsible for me and my staffs employment and ongoing salary costs as well as revenue expenses etc. We meet with a representative from the Committee weekly to discuss any issues outstanding but that is it. I as Playgroup Leader am responsible for the day to day running of the group, administrative issues arising, drafting and writing policies and grant applications etc as well as receiving and receipting the weekly fees. As part of our original Registration with the local Health Board it was suggested we set up a Parents Advisory Group. No…

Transition To School

Hi I just wondered whether others have come across this problem, we have a child who will be going to school in september and he just isn't ready, he seems like he could do with another year, he spends most of his time in the homecorner, doesn't recognise numbers, can't form any recognisable letters, pictures when drawing, he seems immature, that sounds harsh but he is more like my 2 year olds, mum likes to keep him as a baby and does everything for him at home and speaks to him like one, i just don't know how he is going to cope in school! I have tried everything, i moved the pens into the homecorner, tried writing menus, taking orders, put paper on the wall, floor, …

Security Password
by Guest- 16 replies

Hello everyone I need some advice! Does anyone use a password system when children are collected by someone other than the main carer? I have heard that one group requests that the parent/carer provide the nursery with a password in the event of an emergency or the need for their child to be collected by someone other than the person/persons listed on the enrolment form. I would like to implement this system and wondered if anyone else does this and, if so, what information they include on the form. Thanks in anticipation!

Hi all Just need advice really...manager of school club (I am chair) had been told that we received complaints from caretaker for windows not being closed when club were the last to leave the school. Today just found out that Head is fuming as last wed night he came back to school, to find door not locked (ok it is key coded) and alarm not on! It seems that club were the last to use and I have unofficially been told that manager did not do checks around school but thought that the caretaker was there to lock up (he wasnt!). Tomorrow I am hoping to see the head for clarification and apologise to him and say that the committee will go down disciplinary procedures g…

We have an exciting opportunity to open a new pre-school in a village hall. The only concern i have, is the residents of the 'village' also want to incorporate a soft play mother and toddler group twice a week in the same, large hall, using low level screens to separate pre-school children. I have contacted ofsted by email, who have sent me lots of information, but have not answered my specific question 'Can we have a mother and toddler group during pre-school sessions, within the same hall? Your thoughts or experience would be very much appreciated. thank you dottyp
