Making A Complaint Against Ofsted
by Guest- 23 replies

I really want to know if anyone has any experience of making a complaint against OFSTED??? Without going into too much detail (pm for more), a parent complained to OFSTED last year and we had a visit from CIE inspector. The complaint was made 7 months after and incident, child still with us and parents quite involved in setting!!! She was satisfied that everything had been done satisfactorily, she couldn't think of anything else we could do was pleased with all the documentation bla bla bla. HOWEVER, despite setting no actions the complaint was still published online, I was read my rights (then these were revoked) and all in all it was the most horrible experience…

Staff Meeting Ideas
by Guest- 8 replies

I have a staff meeting on Wed and want staff to reflect on their practice in groups. I plan to seperate them into groups to brainstorm current positive practice and then identify areas for improvements or new ideas for their own individual groups - baby room, toddler room etc... I am trying to come up with some other 'fun' ways to self reflect during the meeting - anyone got any ideas?

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the Easter holidays I'm currently writing our newsletter and I want to put something about letters and sounds - or more specifically I want to discourage parents from teaching children to write their names in capitals and teaching them the letters by their names rather than sounds. I don't want to sound like I'm telling the parents off but we've got so many children getting confused between the names and sounds of letters and a few that refuse to write their name in lower case letters because mummy or daddy has taught them to do it in capitals. Does anyone have an idea of how I can word this please? I really wanted to print t…

Hi I am trying to write up a policy for Pre-school - Sun Protection - can anyone share one with me please? i would also like to write a letter to parents regarding hats (I would prefer them to have legionnaire type) and clothing. i know I could print off info from SunSmart website, which i will do for our information table, but wanted a letter to parents regarding hats, clothing, sun cream/lotion and permission form to allow staff to help with applying it. Can anyone help with this please? What about sun lotions etc. Do you supply or are parents expected to bring in their own? I'm concerned about children having an allergic reaction to some creams/lotions if w…

When Is The Right Time To Talk To Staff?
by Guest Spiral- 2 replies

If there was a concern about a senior staff member, which needs to be discussed with them (and it is of a personal matter about the tone of their communication with another member of the setting-not seeing eye to eye). When would be the best time to dscuss it? If it is likey it will upset the member of staff, I will need to arrange a meeting with them out of the session time, which then leads me to wonder as to whether I should call it an informal meeting but minute the details or class it as something I could discuss gently during their appraisal. I don't think it is disciplinary matter, but I'm getting a bit worried. Should I also have a committee member with …

Pay For Key Person Time 1 2
by Guest- 35 replies

Hi I'm sure i have seen on here somewhere a discussion on how managers pay their staff for keyworker time. We are having a big debate over this at the moment as some people have 4 children while others have 10. We pay for half an hour a week, this system isnt working at the moment, i'm looking to change it but just not sure how at the moment.. Do you pay so much per child, how do others organise this?
