following on from the earlier post re 2 members of staff, we are only allowed 2 members of staff per session (until the numbers of children increase) our sessions can have anything from 7 to 13 children. we only have a duty parent for the last hour ( more often than not just half hour) of the session. im trying create an emergency procedure policy -to cover what needs to be done in an emergency situation, ie accident, illness etc. we are stumped as to what to do if one of us needs to administer 1st aid, or if one of us is injured or becomes ill, or if one of us need to accompany a child to hospital......the remaining children would be left with just 1 member of…

Hi Everyone We had a new member of staff join us in January, very nice lady quite new to the area. We were aware there were a few issues with a recent split from partner etc but seemed up beat and has fitted in really well. Until this week!! Didn't come in Monday (unwell over weekend) came in yesterday quite tearful but got on with the job, didn't turn up today and txt another member of staff (not me!!) to say wouldn't be in as having an off day and has just been seen shopping down the supermarket!! Hi all A bit of a dilemma...background is that out of school club is registered for 3 - 11 yrs. We do take children from 4yrs that go to club in the morning, pre-school followed by early years at school in afternoon then school club. We now have a parent who wants to use the holiday club whose son goes to our local pre-school and he turned 3 in Dec. Some committee are a bit concerned given that he will be mixing with children (ok lets face it older bositerous boys!!). Considering he doesnt even go the school either they think he is too young. What do you think?

Hi A committee member has said that she thinks we should only have 2 staff on at school club (ages 3 - 11yrs) during the easter holidays until we go over 16 kids due to staff costs. In theory she is right. Manager thinks we should have 3 staff in at all times in case there is emergency and staff has to go to hospital with child. I can see both points ...anyone help me out with this one? Im committee and not staff in this situation and they are both looking at me for advice. I do have an idea but want to see if you agree??!! Thanks (yet again)

Hi all, I am currently awaiting registration from OFSTED for a new playgroup. We are looking to open in September of this year. I have been approached by a lady with an NVQ level 2 and she is exactly what we are looking for! My question is: Is it too early to send out an offer of employment her? or do I just state in the letter that the job is subject to OFSTED registration and state the expected start date. Hope you can help
