Afternoon Sessions.
by Guest- 11 replies

I am just doing a bit of research in to why as a pre-school, playgroup we always stick to offering morning sessions? My guess is that the children are more alert in the morning and may be require a sleep in the afternoon. But our schools only offer afternoons when the child first goes up. I considered the reasoning of dropping off the older child at school then dropping of the younger child at playgroup until lunch which then gives time to get things done before collecting from playgroup and then to go out again to do the older child school run. However should afternoon sessions take place the parent would do the morning school run for the older child, return home with…

How To Get Time Off For Interview 1 2
by Guest- 35 replies

Dear all, I feel I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Having been very unhappy in my current job, I have finally decided enough is enough and have started to look for jobs. I have found one advertised which I would like very much and will apply for it. But here is my question: how do I get the time off to attend the interview? I work term-time only, so not allowed to take holiday. my current manager obviously doesn't know that I've started to look for other jobs and I'd rather not say anything yet for obvious reasons. Also if I do somehow make it to the interview and they ask me 'why do you want to leave your current position', what am I to say? I am not a good actor, I am usu…

Not sure if this is in the correct section, probably not! I just wanted to let everyone know about the Suttons seeds fundraiser, which seems to be a really good idea, in case anyone has missed this. We're always looking for easy fundraising ideas! Suttons have a catalogue of plants, seeds and fruit, and if parents place an order the pre-school gets 20% profit. It is a little more complicated than I first thought, as pre-school have to send off the orders, but they are delivered direct to the customers. If anyone is interested the phone number is: 0844 922 2104

Support From Deputy - Touching Children
by Guest terrydoo73- 7 replies

I don't feel I am getting the support from my Deputy and cannot stand up to her. Today she pulled me up for touching a child on both arms and asking the child to listen to me. She feels that if a parent walked in she would be embarressed. I did clear the touching with my local registering early years authority. I was told by this person that it was OK to say no to a child if you felt they were in danger ie hurting another child, not respecting your authority etc and also to gain their attention you can touch a child. I asked the early years authority to reiterate this to the Deputy and she did it verbally on that occasion when she visited in February but my Deputy i…

Hi there , We are a small preschool in the grounds of a school. We rent the mobile classroom we use and the rent includes all fuel / power and the school bears repair costs etc. We are expecting a rent increase ... would any of you be happy to share what you pay per session / hour or term so we can evaluate if we are underpaying currently ? We pay £350 per term, we are open 8 to 4 each day except Mondays. Most grateful for any input. Claire
