Hi, We are looking at equipment for our new preschool building and one of our issues is childrens drawers. We will have over 100 children attending different sessions throughout the week and really didnt want to have to have over 100 drawers. Currently we use bluetack on the childs name label to attach to the drawers but its time consuming - what do other providers use for children to store their work etc they do during a session or do all use drawers. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Manager And Deputy Walk Out

What contingency plans do you have in place in case of a mass management walk out in your setting (if any)?! Basically, the manager and deputy have walked. I have no idea what to suggest to the owner who is now, rightly panicking. My initial though was to promote one of the L3's pronto but I don't see how that will be successful in the long term. The setting is being watched by Ofsted anyway. I'm sorry to be so vague, I can't really give too many details as I don't want the setting to be identified. Thanks

Hi im Manager of a committe run charity pre-school and would like to know if anyone else pays their staff to attend training!. I have 2 staff who need to do a level 3 and i am sorting out booking them on a course starting soon. The problem i have is the course is on a day they work and they want to be paid, but i have also got to pay cover staff very expensive!. i want them to swap working days and attend the training which is fully funded. Is this unreasonable, they will get pay increases once they are qualified.

School One Intake Per Year
by Guest- 11 replies

Hi all Well Notts currently has 3 intakes per year ie Sept, Jan, after Easter. From Sept 2011 it goes to just one ie Sept. Just wondered how you think this will affect our numbers? My pre-school is lucky as we take from 2 years (40 children when full) so will have these to fall back on but I think our numbers will drastically be reduced. We also "share" our children with the nursery attached to the infant school ie children go to them in the morning or afternoon and we collect or take to do the mornings/afternoons should parents wish all day care. I think the one intake per year will also affect nursery too. Just wondered what others have found.
