Hi Everyone At present staff are paid 1 hour and 20 minutes a week for paperwork and staff meetings etc, 1 member of staff has just dropped her hours to 2 sessions a week and a new member of staff works the other 3 sessions. This has resulted in some staff who work all week having more key children than those who work less. Staff have been talking resulting in me receivng a call this morning from one of them stating that they feel it is unfair that all staff are paid the same non contact as some have more key children!! Now this had already crossed my mind and I do realise I need to look at how this is paid (I have 6 key children and don't pay myself anything!!). So…

Hi All, Can anyone help..... I have a boy who is 3.5 years, he started toilet/pott training 6 months ago and during the first 2 weeks he had (like many of children) lots of accidents and was at times becoming distressed. His mother (against our advice) felt sorry for him and put him back in pull-ups but told him that once the world cup was over he would go back into pants....which he did..... However the same happened (as above) and again she put him back in pull-ups.....and so the pattern continued. We tried everything: Putting toys in the toilet/round objects for him to aim into Reading a book to him Sticker Chart Praise Going with a friend - Paying…

I've got staff appraisals coming up soon. I've been observing the staff but tomorrow I am going to go in as an ofsted inspector! They were all warned at the last staff meeting that I would be doing this but now i'm about to do it I can't think what questions to ask! Can anyone give me any ideas please? I've got one's like what to do if you have a safegarding issue about a child, also what the process is if you suspect a developmental issue. Also about key person planning etc. I know there are loads of questions that ofsted would ask but they've gone straight out my head! any ideas gratefully received

Space And Children Numbers Query

Hi all We were registered for 40 to use a classroom with kitchenette, small library and the hall (not sure if they include the outside playground but would think not) In actual fact the hall is sometimes not available to club as the school use it for other activities. Last year we added an extra room to our registration with oFSTED. This room is on school site but is across the playground in another, older building. They increased our numbers by 8 because of this. Does this mean that really we can only have 8 children in there? With not being able to use the hall sometimes, not able to go outside as dark we have been using this extra room although still only taking …

Everyone unfortunately encounters the need for time off to attend funerals. I totally agree to give staff time off for a funeral and make cover arrangements as quickly as possible. However, would you allow full pay to the member of staff attending the funeral as well as paying the member of staff to cover the session? Your input would be appreciated. dottyp

Hello everyone I'm just wading through Ofsted forms to re-register my setting before a change of premises. The paperwork says I need a CRB that is countersigned by Ofsted and I was wondering how this is done. My last CRB was done when I did EYPS and is two years old. The registered body for the CRB was the university and it is countersigned by them. Can anyone shed any light on how I get a CRB countersigned by Ofsted? Thanks Beehive

Just a quick question, we are a private pre-school within school grounds. At present my mobile phone is the contact for parents during session as for obvious reasons the school office wouldn't want calls coming into them! In light of everything that has been going on (although todays new case of child abuse hasn't mentioned mobile phones yet!) what does everybody else use as a means of contact!! I am thinking of looking into having a phone line run in, however my husband seems to think that this would be huge amounts of money!! So if that isn't feasable then I really am back to a mobile phone, and trying to find one without a camera is proving pretty tricky too!! Kri…

Swine Flu

Evening, We have 2 children with Swine Flu, (both now off but have been in) do I need to inform all the parents? I know last year when it was going around we were told we had to tell parents so they could decide if they wanted to bring their children in, but that was at the hight of all the scare mongering so not sure if we should just treat it like any other winter flu?? Thanks
