I posted yesterday about advice re regards to my deputy putting her other job first. Now the dilema we have is that I am currently undertaken my EYPS and so have to attend Uni over the next few months as I am at the validation stage. Now we are aware that for the setting open me or the deputy has to be present. Someone has put forward that in the case of the deputy being off and me being at Uni can my assistant step up as acting deputy for the day? If so can anyone please point me in the right direction for guiedance. I'm assuming she'll need to be listed as being acting deputy etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated please

Hi thought long and hard about posting but got to point where don't know what else to do. Manager is over 59 and very set in her ways. Everything is done this way because it has always been done this way and it always the easy option. She has run setting for last 7 years. We have 2 members of staff and a deputy who all want to make changes to pretty much everything as we all feel manager not doing the job she is paid for. Policy file is out of date has the staff names on the staffing list from the 3 members of staff that left last October. The list with the CRB numbers has not been update since I started, again has all old staff on. So much paperwork is out of date. We di…

Hi Bit of rant too lol!!! I have a staff member who also has another job, like myself, however, if they need her then she will ring me and explain that she can't come in for that morning. Now she is employed by us from 8:45 to 12:45 though in her favour she is usually there from 8 am. Her afternoon job is between 3 and 5 days a week - varies depending on needs of other job. Now she used to bring the sick children in to our setting and after speaking to committee they stopped this. Now she doesn't get paid either if she is off because of her other job. My dilema is I am in the process of completing my EYPs -final weeks and HAVE to attend my Uni dates. Were …

Could you please tell me how often your setting takes on new children. At present our playgroup takes on any child as soon as they reach 2 years 9 months. This is obviously very confusing when working out invoices and how many places we have available the following year. It also leads to the problem that if a child does not reach 2 years 9 months until say June, at present we would hold that space and receive no monies until they started (ie. no monies coming in from Sept-June). We are considering taking on children in say September and January only, therefore I feel it is more cost effective but not so great for the parents of a child that is eligble to start after …

I feel as though I have been on a holiday but now feel a desperate need to get home!! We have been patched up and dried out with extensive redecoration booked to be done in half term. I know one week isn't long following such an incident …

Used one from this fab site once before on the EYFS and it really helped me. Want to then set up some practical activities to help parents understand what we do. Any tips? Any help would be really great. Thanks everyone.
