Hi I am looking to make a website for our pre-school, its something I have really put off but now find the need. (competitor now has one and don't want to miss out on future clients) I was wondering if anyone knew the easiest way or site etc, as you can see I don't really know where to start. I have asked parents but its their time and have had no offers so its just me! Can you help? Big Sue

We are just about to move into our new room at the local school. Wonderful yes, storage, no. I am wondering if it is legal to scan all the old documents that you need to keep and have them on a disc instead of actually keeping then physical bits of paper. Anyone done that?

We just had the PLA in today who asked why we not using the outdoor area. We have a small patch of concrete as our outdoor area (exciting I know) It is covered with ice because of the snow and is lethal! We risk assessed that it was ridiculously dangerous to use it today so gave them extra time in our play hall where they can run around but it's inside. PLA not happy with this and said we should take them out so we did and within a couple of minutes children were falling over and hurting themselves, it was silly. I explained this but got "free flow should be available and children should manage their own risk taking" Whats everyones opinion on this??

HI We are having a debate! at nursery at the mo about how we should organise christmas dinner for the children. Some staff say we should offer it every day during the week leading up to christmas so that all the children can have a christmas meal others say only once that week but then not many children would have a christmas dinner. Would anyone like to share what they do please? thanks sharon

Hi - just decided to close early today due to snow ( 3 instead of 6) It's impossible to staff as all schools have closed etc and the snow has continued to get deeper and heavier throughout the morning making the roads treacherous. Never needed to do this before - struggled through last year... Has anyone else had to close early? (Nurseries/Full daycare) I've had a parent ask a member of staff if they'll get their money back etc... What do others do? Would be grateful to hear your views.

I will try and make this as brief as I can!! I own and run a private Pre-School from within a primary school, about 1 mile down the road is a day nursery and yesterday parents were called and given two hours to collect their children and 6.30pm the baliffs moved in!! Anyway this nursery run an after school club which collected children from the school where I am based, the head teacher has been mentioning for some time about an after school club and would I open one! Hi Our pre-school is moving into purpose built premises on a school site and will be full time including holidays. Can anyone recommend a management software package that would meet our needs? I have seen one on the Pre-School Learning Alliance website but do not know anyone who has used it....... We will be open 8 am till 6 pm Monday to Friday. Breakfast club for school and pre-school Pre-School Afterschool care for school and pre-school I'm already having headaches trying to work out what staff I will need to cover breaks, ratios etc etc Any advice and help gratefully received.
