Just a quick question if you have a position advertised can you contact candidates to arrange interviews prior to the closing date provided the interview is after the closing date. Hope this makes sense!! Kris

Hi Had a visit today as have new teacher in reception. Advisor decided to visit nursery as well! gave us good with many outstanding elements. Told the reason she could not give us outstanding was because the children were not following the idea of stars during child initiated which would show that they were so interested in the story that was read at the beginning. never mind next time they will only have stars to play with!!! was really pleased with result though

why is everything now available 'on line' ??????training bulletins,letters,documents,leaflets...all for us to download and print off ourselves. just opened letter from the GSCB, informing me that the new DCPO handbook is now only available on-line.......just found it (all 39 pages of it) to find that we shouldnt print it , use the 'live' version. this is all well and good if you have internet accesss in your setting....we dont. so, i cant print off the handbook - and if i do, i wont know if its the up to date version , as they will automatically up date it online. but they did send a lovely full colour poster telling me the web address, cant wait to blu tack…

Staffing Levels
by Guest- 4 replies

I wonder whether anybody could help me. Our Setting is losing our Managers shortly and we are looking for a replacement. In the meantime if we had a Level 3 in the Setting which I know is needed to run, would the Level 3 have to be the responsable person and run the session. I ask because some of our staff currently Level 2 have been with the setting many years and would have far more experience than a newer Level 3. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi all Have a relatively new playworker that has been with us nearly 3 months. Do any of you do a review or mini appraisal after this time? I have a massive appraisal form but was after something a bit more less detailed. Can anyone help me out (again!) Thanks!

I can't believe it's almost 2011 and I still have staff that can't see the value of all weather outdoor play. "It's too cold!" is just the start of the moaning. How can I expect the children to enjoy it if the staff are stood round looking grumpy and that's if I can get them out the door in the first place. I've been out and modelled how to play without table top resources and even then they complain how cold the indoor area is with the door open. Okay, whinge over. Does anyone have any EYFS references to say staff have to be outside? Also, if I am expecting staff to be outside should the setting be providing them with gloves, winter coats etc? Thanks for your help …

Premises For New Nursery

Hello any early birds able to respond this morning please ? I'm viewing potential premises for a new pre school today (been looking for premises for nearly a year). This would be a pack away setting as the premises are used as an after school club from 3pm. We are only shortlisted. We will be asked to sign a licence (rather than a lease) in effect this gives us no security under the landlord Act, but would be a specified 5 year licence. We are being offered full use of the interior and exterior areas, except for an office which is for the sole use of the after school club. My concern is that the draft licence, says that the "Licencee has no right to exclude the L…

Hi, It is coming up to that time of year again at Pre-school. Does anyone have any appraisal formats they would be willing to share. We have very basic ones but I feel they need to be a little more thorough without being too onerous. Thanking you Scottiedog
