Today a parent asked me for a list of all the childrens names. Firstly are we supposed to be passing a list of names to parents and secondly last year we spent too long sorting cards out. Does anyone have an easy solution please .We have 70 children are age 2-4 so many of them can't always remember the childrens names.

Ey2 And Health Declaration Confusion

Hi all you knowledgeable people! Bit confused here... committee complete EY2 as does the new manager..do realise the manager completes the refs section etc but surprised they do not complete the health section on the EY2. I have got copy of OFSTED health dec so do i just get her and her gp tofill out now or do i have to wait until ofsted request it? I know ofsted send the crb form to new manager to complete and return once they get the EY2 Next have seen in a few ofsted docs that staff also complete the EY2 form. I only thought it was the manager? Has this changed? ie see the checklist below Plus on the cover of the health dec doc it says This form is par…

Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone can advise please? I am the supervisor of a nice little village preschool. We have a good staff team and generally we are lucky to have a flow of reliable committee members. Our Chairperson 'gets things done' as in delegates to EVERYONE in quite a condescending kind of way and a few of us, including staff get rubbed up the wrong way by her. She has held the position of Chairperson now for over 3 years and as she has the last of her own children due at preschool in about a year, we are thinking that she is planning on staying FOREVER!!!!!!! AGM's that used to be a nice social event are dull, depressing and not a snack or drin…

Hi, I'm after a little help and advice, if anyone has any We have had a new student start this week, she comes just twice a week and so I've only seen her twice but I have some concerns. She is painfully thin and eats next to nothing and doesn't seem to drink nearly enough. On Wednesday she had a small amount of orange squash in the afternoon, and that's all. On Thursday her Mum dropped off a bag of lunch with an enormous baguette stuffed absolutely full (I'd have had a job wrapping myself around it!) and a small yoghurt. She didn't even get the baguette out, it got hidden under her coat in the kitchen. She brought the yoghurt out and it took her half an hour …

Just in case this is yet another (Ofsted) urban myth, please could someone confirm whether we need to record "injuries" (eg a grazed knee) found on children when they are brought into school and get the parent to sign off on the entry? I'm not talking about injuries received during the school day, which we record automatically, but those received out of school. Our child protection "officer" has just completed a child protection course and this was not brought up during the training, so a link or pointer to the relevant literature would be very helpful. We really don't want to inconvenience our parents more than necessary Many thanks

Allocation Of Extra Shifts
by Guest- 5 replies

We are experiencing a bit of an issue in our setting where extra shifts have become available and more than one person wants to work a particular extra shift. Does anyone have any guidelines that we could look at as to how to solve this problem and decide who gets offered the shifts "first" as such. Thankyou

Hi Does anyone have a staff training contract. It has been suggested that we put one in place! I think it is to deter staff? ie if we claim a bursary or the setting pays for a staff member to undertake their level 3 training they complete training and then leave the contract would state they should repay the cost of their training? Make sense? thanks sharon

Hi Everyone Following the media again yesterday regarding mobile phones. I have again advised my staff to make sure their phones are stored the office and turned off. Also to make sure that visitors do the same. They have objected to them being turned off. What does everyone else do? We are due an ofsted visit soon and I am sure this will be top of their list. Many Thanks

i need some advice, we have a child who continually is scratching their head, and i have noticed live headlice in their hair on a number of occasions. everytime i quietly mention to mum, and she says she will treat her child. this has been ongoing for months now, and now some of the duty parents have also noticed (as its at times very obvious) we have discussed confidentiality etc with them. how can we progress from here ? i cant see that we can continue until the child leaves us for school - the poor child is continually scratching. our policy states that we request the child is treated before returning to the setting - - but what if the treatment is not working ? an…
