Can anyone tell me if their setting has a credit card? We are soon to move and need to buy quite a lot of furniture etc. What has always happened in the past is that staff buy things and then claim the money back. However, as we are opening an out of school club we feel this system will not be practical any longer as day to day costs will be higher. We bank with a building society as there is a branch in the village and it has always been very convenient but obviously that means no cards. I have looked into it but there always seems to be too much information or too little. Thanks

Advanced Apprenticeships

Hi I have 2 staff members who have done advanced apprenticeships in childcare, learning and develop. through different places. One certificate actually has the cwdc logo on it and skills for business. Both were done whilst staff were working at other nurseies. When you go to the cwdc website bto check qualifications I cant find them. I know they are a level 3 qualification. Any ideas?

Dazed and confused here! Am I right in thinking that by 2015 any early years setting will require the head to have early years professional status? If so, what comprises that? Does someone with a PGCE in early years already have it or is there an additional qualifaction that they need to get? Links to the relevant government website would be useful (Google is just giving me lists of institutions wanting my money!) Best, and thank you

Just curious! we now start at 8.45 and finish at 11.45. This is proving hard though as myself and jobshare do ppa cover in the afternoons so need to tidy nursery, set up, eat and prepare for afternoon classes in that time! we normally still have children there at 12pm, and often after. often end up with around 20 minutes for lunch. I know its a problem for everyone but just wondered how u fit in the 3 hours.

Contacting Parents By Email
by Guest- 12 replies

We have just recruited a new deputy but because of the timescale we haven't yet sent out a letter to parents. I would really like to be able to inform them of her arrival before we go back on Monday if at all possible. My fees manager sends out a lot of invoices via email and therefore we have most, if not all, of our families on the email system. However, my question is, do we need to ask their permission to contact them via email for this purpose or does it constitute unsolicited mail? In our next newsletter we will be asking them if they mind receiving communication from us this way, in our effort to cut down on costs and unwanted sheets of paper floating aro…

Hi I am the manager of a village preschool and we have always been members of the PLA and used their insurance. We are currently trying to amend our constitution as we are having problems recruiting committee members and have had nothing but problems with the PLA. We are also in the process of moving into our own building and I am wondering if this is the time to ditch the PLA? - any advice please - have others moved away from the PLA?

Hello Toying with the idea of having a website (mostly as a way of keeping in touch with parents) it would need to be private (ie passworded) or at least a few pages private. and would need to be as cheap as possible. Does anyone know where to start looking? what do you do website wise?? Thanks

Hallway Display!

I'm looking at changing our display in the hallway. At the moment it is just about the Eyfs but i feel like its a bit of a waste of space and that more information could be displayed there. What have you got displayed in your hallway/ parents board/ recepton area ? We have a separate board for all the legal stuff like registration certificate, insurance etc, so this would just be for useful information for parents.
