Hi everyone, most of the NEW Children have settled into the routine, leave their parents with a few tears however I have one parent who will not leave, the child has been fine up until Monday when mum stayed Tuesday when I gently asked mum that it was ok to leave, the child screamed the place down. Now she will not leave, we have reasured the child, reassured the parent, used distraction. I normally ask parents to kiss their child and say goodbye ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ANYTHING IS WELCOME

I would like to devise a check list/form template to make sure staff attending training are able to record key details and summarise what they have learnt so that we can discuss/share useful or new adult learning within our team. Oh and like everything else we do I feel I need to prove we do it rather than just having conversations about it. Does anyone else do this and if so have you already devised a format that you might be able to share with me to get me started. I think I know what I am wanting to achieve but don't know how to do it, if that makes sense. Thank you for reading. BMG

I was spot checked by Ofsted yesterday following some allegations made to them about the way I manage my preschool. The allegations, though anonymous, turn out to have been made by a member of staff who resigned at the end of the Summer Term. Has anyone else had a situation like this and what did you do? I don't know whether to confront her or not. I did pass the spot check with flying colours and the inspector was extremely happy with the way I do things but it has left me feeling very unsettled and wondering what she may do next.

Hi I need to pick your expert brains and hope someone can help. I am currently recruiting a new preschool assistant and am about to invite candidates for interviews BUT have never done this before and have no idea what to ask them. Would anyone be so kind and give me some examples of what you ask when interviewing?

Just looking for a few opinions on this, I have been asked to undertake training one day of the weekend for 3 weekends, It is company policy thatwe do not get paid overtime at all and do not get time in-lieu back for extra training, I have already done a 20 hour course in the evening with no time back and regularly take my paperwork home off my own back but have said to my boss as i am a single parent I can not attend training on 3 weekend days (especially as it is unpaid as i wouldn't even beable to pay for childcare) which has now become a big issue to the point it is threatened traing for everyone will be cancelled because I am not attending causing tension between mys…

Has anybody else had a lot of children go down with Chicken pox. We had an outbreak a few weeks ago with a few children and then another outbreak middle of last week with quite a few more children going down. It is an airborne virus so nothing much we can do about it - unless anybody knows differently. Some parents aren't happy, otherwise happy -

Hi all, We've had a few parents speak to us to say that their children (who started in September) don't know the names of the other children. While we do register, hello song (naming each child) to familiarise our names, and I've mentioned to parents that while child might be able to answer "where's Jane, where's John", it's harder for them to remember "what's this child's name", "who did you play with today", etc. Well I'll stop rambling now and ask my question.... I was thinking how nice it would be to compile a photo album with each child's photograph (and perhaps parents) which could be lent to new children so they could look at it with their parents a…
