Hi I have been a member on here for a little while but rarely get the chance to post so hi everyone. I work part time in a school nursery. we are only a morning nursery so my jobshare and I do ppa cover in the afternoons. We are in the process of sorting out our home visits etc for Sept. As far as were aware (until today) we had 9 starting in September and 9 in Jan. This number always rises and we average about 24 children. HOWEVER.... Today our headteacher has informed my jobshare that we are not going to have a jan intake anymore so all 18 will start in sept. (letters have already gone out to parents stating whether their child will start in sept or jan! also we o…

Has anyone in a rural setting ever used an agency to recruit senior members of staff (manager/deputy) and if so, which agency and how successful was it? Was it value for money?

Has anyone had the working together to safeguard children training? We are currently escorting children to the toilet using to members of staff as the current manager insists on safeguarding the staff. Does everyone else do this? Our toilets are on the outside of the playroom as we are a packaway setting in a community building.

Hi....just wanted to throw something out there for discussion: A prospective parent visited my setting the other week and hopes to enrol her child at our setting and still keep a place at another setting she already uses for convenience of work and hours etc....we had the this conversation when she looked around the setting and I could see no problems and assured her that we would liaise with the other setting (also informed her that the government encourage us to be flexible and trust a parents decision as to what is best for them and their children) to ensure continuity and good communication was had...... however the other setting have advised her against using…

we are a sessional pre-school, run by a commitee. our current commitee will be stepping down from sept, and have managed to find 2 people to replace, a treasurer who's child will not be starting pre school for another 12 months (so we will hardly see the new treasurer ) and a secretary who is not really a 'paperwork' person, and i dont think im being too harsh in saying they are not the sharpest tool in the box. so my worry is -we have no chairperson, we will have a treasurer we will never see (and who doesnt have a child in playgroup -so will not be up to date and current with whats going on day to day) and a secretary (who we will see on a daily basis, but who will…

Had phone call today for someone just moved to area wants to join in September which yes I have a space but then I wont have a space for children in January if they all take up their spaces. Getting well confused about how I should be managing admissions. We are a pre school voucherable children can attend 9-12, 9-1 or 9-3 and 2-3yrs attend 1-3 tues, wed, thurs. Hope this makes sense to someone. Buttercup

Nursery Uniforms

I was looking to get feedback on uniforms for staff. How often do you provide uniform per year and how many items per employee and what do they wear? Also any good suggestions about where you can get good quality, long lasting uniforms.
