we are a playgroup so most of our parents dont work or manage to fit in work around hours. children can attend 9-3 or do just morning. Parent complained that she had to take time off work to come to xmas play. she cant come to leavers photos because of work and she had too little notice. If i send out letters too far in advance they forget. we have sports day coming up during session time so want to be prepared. Do i change time to fit in around this one person or go ahead with original plan that no one else has complained about. two years ago we let children stay after sports day and we had so many children crying because their parents had gone home we change…

how does everyone manage all their new children starting in sept. I have quite a few new children starting from sept and am concerned as to how im going to manage them all. Balancing budgets with staff ratios and so forth. We've obviously got a settling in policy which states parents should stay to settle their children etc but im wondering does anyone do a staggering in period, having a few start a different times etc, then again i gues its down to cost and if this is possible. Suggestion please, AW i forgot to say most of the children starting are barely 2and most of them having stayed anywhere before

Ok, I was under the impression that is would be compulsory from 2010 for any childcarer included in ratio to have a level 3 and that there should be a eyp in every setting by 2015......... Am I wrong?? Can anyone point me in the direction of something official stating this please? I know I read it somewhere but 3 of my girls are doing their level 3 now and one has just been told that there isn't anything anywhere saying that level 3 will be compulsory at any time! I'm really confused and I want to call both ofsted and the cwdc with proof that this is written somewhere - if it is Can anyone help please? I'd like to try and do this tonight before they close at…

Hi all, we are having some 'hiccups' with staff salaries, and I'm trying to work out where the issue is. I think it must be at the stage where they complete time sheets and the treasurer tells our payroll person how much to pay. Please could you describe how you get staff to do timesheets/pass this info onto payroll? Many thanks.

Hi Can anyone please point me in the direction of where I can find a very simplified version of the EYFS for Parents? It has become clear that some including committee memebers don't realise how much time and effort my staff team put into observations and Learning journals Thanks

Not many of you will know my story, I'm an agency worker who got put in a birth to 5 private nursery as manager after Easter to try and squeeze the awful staff out. Sadly with HR help it's going to take months to even get one out never mind all of them, the Directors have decided to pull and wind the company down. I've got our EDS coming out on Wednesday anyways but thought I'd ask you lovely ladies, what do we have to do with all of the paperwork we have, such as children's files, records from county, old parent invoices, anything else that I can't think of lol. Also we're probably going to have to sell fixtures and fittings, so if anyone in the area (Durham) is…

Ok if you constantly find that when you are trying to get the whole group's attention and one or 2 children start kicking off, that the other staff have melted away. Have you ever found yourself pinned down by one special needs child grabbing the wobbly bit under your arms and another undoing your flies, and again where are the other staff. Seriously, if teamwork is lacking in your setting is it possible to bring it in?
