Need Your Help For Meeting Tonight

Sorry this is a bit short notice - but I know someone will help - you always do! We are a pre school (pack away - church hall) and are extending our hours in September from 5 mornings and 2 afternoons to 2 full days per week and 3 mornings where the full day provision will be 9.15-3.15 (with packed lunch). Some children will be staying all day and some wish to remain as they are now - either attend morning or afternoon. I have a lovely informal meeting (and curry) planned for tonight with staff to discuss changes to routines etc. and was wondering how other people operate during the full day? Do you do 2 of everything (eg circle times etc?) never thought to come on h…

Hi, we discussed payroll at our meeting last week, and I really feel strongly that it is wrong for our unqualified committee members to be in charge of sorting out staff wages. If something goes wrong it's really awkward for staff to protest, plus our treasurer doesn't really have the expertise. Also, the law around wages etc. is quite complicated. So ... please could I have some recommendations for external companies who do this? I know this has been mentioned on here before. I would need a company to take time sheets, work out things like holiday pay, do P60 or whatever it's called, make sure wages and NI etc. are paid. Also, how does it work with an externa…

My long term business plan would be to open full day care (8-6) but we are currently a pack away pre-school. I wonder if this is possible. i gues it would depend on the ages you'd take. I'm thinking from 2- 5. Are there any settings out there that currently operate like this

What does everyone pay their staff? Key persons, deputies and supervisors etc. Am interested to hear from all settings. We are a term time only morning only pre-school (packaway). Does everyone pay their staff for setting up in the morning and tidying away. Are we allowed to say where we are based to reflect ? How can charity run pre-school manage to pay so much to their staff compared with private. I can barely pay more them minmum wage to my key persons and would love to be able to pay them in the £7 region or am i being ambitous.

We have a 3 year old child that started with us about 5 weeks ago, an only child with older slightly protective parents, mum is Bulgarian and dad is English (bit of background for you!). The child is quite possesive over a particular child at the setting, always wanting to sit with and play with this child, quite forceful if this doesn't happen, but even more interesting is the Imaginary Friend!! If we ask the child not to do something or ask them to do something and they dont want to they blame this imaginary friend. Usually along the lines of my friend done it (no one else there) or my friend doesn't want to do it!! Example this morning at snack child was flicking t…

We've got a vacancy for a couple of days a week, and manager gave me the application forms yesterday (Friday) and asked me to do the interviews on Monday - 1 applicant has recent UK childcare qualifications, so I know the relevance of those. 1 has overseas non-childcare graduate qualifications, so I can guess she'd need EYPS or a lower level to give her awareness of childcare issues... But the other one has a masters degree in pedagogy from Poland - not recognised by CWDC as I guessed it wouldn't be, but I think all she'd need to bring it in line would be EYPS. Does anyone know? And help today (Saturday) or tomorrow would be great so I can actually say to her in…

Hi, I'm just curious, I'm about to take over as pre school manager/leader and have filled in my health form for Ofsted. I took it to the doctor and was charged over £100 for the form to be filled in. Who pays for this in your setting? Do you as the professional take the cost on or does your setting pay for it? Thank you in advance x
