hi all, I understand the neg funding only covers 38 weeks a yr so my question to you is what dates do you close that is if you do close and choose not to charge for the extra 2 wks instead. I'm in a bit of a dilema because my staff obviously want me to stay open so they don't loose pay etc but I have a strong feeling that my parents won't want to pay for the extra 2 weeks that it doesn't cover. What does everyone do? Also is the funding yr in line with the school yr?

We recently had an inspection at our new nursery. We are a private nursery taking children from birth to pre school. We were given a recommendation from Ofsted regarding children's starting points related to learning and development and involving parents! We have a thorough and effective settling policy and procedures and we obtain a lot of information from parents regarding children's pastoral needs. As we take from birth there is obviously relevant information like times of milk and sleeps etc.... Having reacquainted myself with the guidance for sun safety, I would like to provide a suitable suncream in our pre-school that staff apply to children with the option for parents to bring in their own if they wish. Can anybody recommend a suitable 'broad spectrum' suncream with an SPF of 30 that is also reasonably priced? Thanks

Hi Just after anyone else's experiences with nut allergy sufferrers and sun cream. This is the first summer that we have a child in attendance who has a severe nut allergy and it has just been brought to my attention that some sun creams contain nut oil. I am now worried that although the child will have suitable sun cream for herself, what about when she comes into contact with children who have had an unsuitable brand applied. We ask parents to provide sun cream for each of their children to ensure that the cream is appropriate to the individual. Should i return these bottles to the parents and provide suncream from the nursery to ensure it is suitable, …

ok so we've been told by our development worker that we can use anti-bac gel/sanitiser or gel or whatever its called but I'm still a little apprenhensive over this. Does anyone else use this and if so where do they get theres from. I mean are they all safe or are there specific ones for children to use.
