I need some advise. We are moving into a new room within the main school during the Easter holidays. The room is fab, childrens toilet, our own kitchen, main classroom and a brill outdoor play area with astro turf decking and a tarmac road for bikes. I will need to do a full risk assessment before the children come in on the 19th April. Can anyone advice me on this, or send me a copy of a form that may help me. I do a termly risk assessment and also a weekly risk assessment but thought that with this being a brand new room that it should have some sort of proper form ready for Ofsted. Hope that someone can help. Not sure if i have put this in the right place…

Hello all and a very Happy Easter to those that celebrate- and for those that don't Happy Holidays! To business- this week we have been through the mill once again to try to find a way to wade through the giant jelly that is the 15 hour challenge. I am in a nursery attached to a school and we have the problem re school timetables/siblings etc The one option that we think we be the best of a serious of bad ones is the 2.5 day e.g. Mon, Tues full time and Wed am then Wed pm, Thurs and Friday fulltime. This does not adhear to the governments 'little and often' advice but hey ho... My question to anyone out there that is already opertaing this system is- what are …

Exciting Times Ahead!

So my committee run pre-school setting is currently based in a pack away village hall but the two schools we fed into amalgamated in September to form a new school with the prospect of a new school being built for 2011 some time with the notion of my pre-school joining the new site with our own room. However nothing was ever confirmed in writing which was slightly worrying- even more so when the preliminary plans of both the outside and building layout were released a few weeks ago. We got our DO onto the case who initially said the decision for which group would be in the nursery area would be the decision of the LA and could possibly go to competative tender. This was…

hi all can someone give me some advice please. I keep getting told that I need to have a degree or eyps status to run my setting which is a pre-school currently only running in the mornings. This is based in wiltshire although I've contacted Bright Horizons who offer advice training, that sort of thing and they've said I don't. I'm so confused.

Hello everyone Does anyone have a course evaluation form which they would like to share? I have searched the forum and can't find anything. We have been using one from the PLA Accreditation (the old system) and there are questions on there which are confusing new staff and the remaining staff have commented that they dont like the form. Many thanks in advance.

just interested 2 find out how if it's normal practice to have a supernumery manager. Obviously this is likely the case in nurseries and children centres but just wondering about pre-schools.

Hi all thought I had this covered by extending the existing 2.5 hr session by half hour each way . but have attended committee meeting today and certain members have raised concerns that this is to long a day for 2 year olds ( who may attend 2 seesions including a lunch club ). I have tried to explain that this is was most preschool settings have done to accomodate the extra time and just wanted your views with regards to what you are all offering or doing with the 15 hrs entitlement. thank you

Well we have our interviewees lined up for today and thursday, but ive had thought and wondered if all you kind people out there can help, our committee have just swapped how we are paid and gone for a pay scale, now in theory thats fine for the members of staff who have been there over 10 years 3 of them! its works like this min wage = £5.80 ph then add 5p ph per year worked, (up to 10yrs) 5p ph for duties (SENCO) extra for training extra for qualifications you get the gist. but it means that one of the people coming today for a interview will only be on £6.65 ph. (shes level 2/working towards 3) Then we have another person coming who holds a BA in chi…
