Hello everyone - my first go on here so I'm hoping someone can help! We want to have some safe outside surface for our toddlers. Wet- pour is SO expensive. Has anyone used the rubber safety mats in their setting jopined together? Does the safety surface get hot in summer, fade? Does the dye stain clothes, shoes etc? Is it long lasting or does it all start to dent and look horrible? I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks

I'm hitting a brick wall! I know that none of your know my setting but I'm trying to put together a marketing flyer (I've given up on a motto) and trying to think up words that describe my setting e.g. fun, exciting, calming, friendly. Can you clever people throw some words at me, perhaps some you would use to describe your settings? To help you, we are based in a village hall, we use one room, we have lots of colourful furniture and we are a happy friendly bunch. All words gratefully accepted. ppp

Disposal Of Nappies

At a recent training course I heard some practitioners discussing the fact that if you do not have nappy disposal bins (seperate to household waste, yellow sacks etc) you have to send the soiled nappies home with the child as they can't go with household waste. Is that what any of you do? We are in a community hall and only have 2 children in nappies so we don't usually have a bin full. ppp

We've been in a mobile classroom, owned by the preschool, on a school site for over ten years, and have now moved into a new brick purpose-built building. We've been insured with Morton Michel all the time in the mobile classroom and tried to get a quote from PLA insurers to see if they'd be cheaper than Morton Michel in the new building, but never heard back from them, so have stayed with Morton Michel. So, we're now covered for the year in the new building (and on the old builidng till it goes at the beginning of April), but wondered what other choices are out there?

What Hours Are You Planning?

Hi all, My brain is hurting trying to come up with an acceptable solution to the 3 hr funding which will come in to effect for us in September! At the moment we run: Mon am 9.15 - 1145 & 1215 - 1445 tues am 9.15 - 1310 wed am 9.15 - 1145 & 1215 - 1445 thurs am 9.15 - 1310 fri am 9.15 - 1310 so I suppose we could stay at the same hours ie child doing 5 full sessions a week would have 17 hrs we would have to say that they could leave earlier if they only wanted the 15 hours, this would mean children leaving at different times, I could cope with this I think! However it would limit our numbers, we can only have 30 children per session. …

Flexible Funding
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi we have in our policies that children must attend more than one session per week as we find the children are more settled than only coming once a week. Does anyone know if we will still be able to state this from September with the new 15 hours "flexible" funding coming into play. We would normally be offering out places at the end of the month but have had no guidance from LEA as to what is expected from us!
