What To Risk Assess?
by Guest- 2 replies

I am in the process of updating our risk assessments and was wondering what things / areas you all risk assess. I have found a list in the EYFS practice guidance, but am wondering if it is really necessary to have written risk assessments for all those things, e.g. 'the use of socket covers in electrical sockets'. Thanks

Bad Day!

At Christmas my husband bought me a bar of chocolate with the title "EMERGENCY CHOCOLATE"! It seems to me that nearly every day I come home and think "Is the day that is bad enough for me to eat it?" Sadly I am always pretty sure that there s something else to come.... So this was a bad day because a parent came in and said that another child had done something (can't really say what) to her child, that certainly would have been a terrible thing. The mother is threatening to "take it further". Problem is this is about the third or fourth time this has happened in one half term that we have had the child, and each time the parent said her child told a member of staff…

Just wondering if anyone can help me please. I have just accepted a position of area manager for the autistic society and have been asked about mobile ofsted registrations. We are looking to set up groups for 3 - 8 years for children who have an ASD, but as we are mobile I am not sure how I would go about this and if it even exists. I would appreciate any suggestions thank you killowengirl

Boys Behaviour!

Help! We have a group of about 8 boys who are becoming a nightmare to manage. They are very physical and so we are trying to meet their needs through our outdoor environment as they like to be outside, but certain aspects of their behvaiour are now becoming habitual and we need to break habits somehow. They are running around inside screaming despite being reminded that we have inside and outsid evoices, they push and shove in group situations and will disrupt story tiem by making silly noises and lying on the floor. We are running out of our usual tried and trusted strategies to manage them, so any help would be appreciated! We are in Nursery.

We have a child in the setting who joined up about a year ago with no English and who has on many occasions protested very loudly when frustrated (e.g. by the need to share or wait a turn, or when provoked / tormented by others.) She has also acted out physically towards others - mainly pushing, hitting sometimes (adults and children) and combined with the screaming and shouting could be quite scary (mostly the child would exclude themselves and try to head for a quiet place to vent their frustration and in doing so push anyone in the way out of the way!) Anyway after a year the child is doing well with their English and is a great deal calmer than before....so I am…
