A certain voucher company is taking money from parents accounts and not handing it over to us. Anyone experiencing same problems? Where do we stand legally in getting the money from this voucher company?

Deputy Manager Job Description

Me again. Does anyone have a detailed deputy manager job description they would be happy to share? I've looked in the Resource Library and the example is very similar to what we already have. What I need are examples of the 'deputy' part being described - not just the leading of the room in the absence of the manager, but examples of what needs to be done on the 'management' side including any managerial responsibilities even when the manager is present. If everyone has the same kind of job description that is in the resource library, it would be very helpful to know that too. The deputy manager part of our job description reads 1. Assisting with the implementati…

Appraisals

Hi, We are a new setting and I need to do appraisals. What time of year do most folks do them? I was going to do them in January but last term just seems to have disappeared with all the snow closures. I am worried about one of them. We are a committee setting and I was interviewed by 2 members of the committee one of whom then became a member of staff ( I later interviewed her). I always feel there is an imbalance as she is as equally qualified as me and was quite instrumental in setting the pre-school up. I think initially she would have liked to do the leader role but realised her family commitments were too great at the moment. She is quite 'strong' in team meet…

Intresting...what Do You Do?

Hi all Well was doing a bit of networking etc at a course last week and got the opportunity to ask the following of about 25 nursery nurses, pre-school assitants/managers tc. How many of you are in a union? I would say about 20 said they were! (my colleague and I at the course are looking into the union Voice). Do you pay unqualified staff the same as qualified? All said no. We are paid the same as unqualified staff therefore what is the point of being qualified? Just had a letter from committee saying they realise how hard we work etc but this year cannot afford to give anyone a payrise (so not much chance of us getting a different rate then!....currently £6.1…

Learning Journal Workload

Hi, Has anyone got any top tips on managing this? At the moment myself and my other two colleagues in pre-school seem to only have time to add to these/highlight off etc. at home and it takes such a long time. We each have 8 key children. I would love us to be able to each find 20 minutes each day to look in the observations wallet, take out any evidence, stick it in with the child and add any comments/highlighting etc. If we each did that with 2 children a day we would cover all our 8 children in a week and allow for a day of not doing it. But how do I find time to free up each of us for 20 minutes a day when all 3 of us seem to be needed all the time to help…

Return To Work Form
by Guest- 5 replies

I'm sure this has already been covered somewhere but my searches aren't turning it up, so here goes! Does anyone have a form, slip, interview sheet or other means of recording a return to work interview when staff have been absent? I did some management training yesterday where it was suggested that these should be completed even if staff have only had a single day off - so that patterns of absence can be spotted, support offered etc. I would be grateful for anything that saves me time!!!
