Just wondered how many settings have different fees depending on the age of the child? We have always had the same fees no matter what the age group, however it has been put to us that we are using the funding to make up the short fall, which to be fair is probably true. I am worried though that parents won't be able to pay the true cost of sending their child to playgroup.

Has anyone else completed theirs yet? I'm looking at mine and even the first page seems awful! Oh - and does anyone else hate the name "Third Sector"? (so we're not allowed to say Third World Country any more, because it's disparaging, but we can say Third Sector!)

Hi everyone I really need your help desperately. At the moment my topic through a child's interest is rockets/space, however we are getting moderated in two weeks (only found out today ) still keeping on the same theme and need advice on anythin 'WOW' that i could do. I would like for the moderators to walk in a be 'wow' how good is this. The focus is mark making and I am the nursery teacher but struggling for mark making ideas. The only downside is they are coming in in the afternoon and we only have a few children in the afternoon so it wont look as busy with having only 12 children. Also any ideas for what i could put in my continuous provision inside and outsid…

Snack Money
by Guest- 15 replies

Just wanted a bit of advice on how to deal with this. We are a non-profit making Pre-School and charge £1 oer week for snack and those who only come say 1 or 2 days per week only pay 20p per day. We currently have 12 children on roll and so should be averaging around £9 per week. Today I checked the tin and there was only £1.80 it in. I am quite cross as the last few weeks it is getting less and less. How I am supposed to pay for the snack for the following week? Most of these children pay nothing as they recieve the nursery education grant and we are based in a very affluent area - any ideas how to ensure the money is collected in? Thanks

I worked at another setting as manager in 2006 and had a suitable persons interview with ofsted and passed. I had to fill in a health declaration form then all was well. I had to fill in a new one for the preschool where I am working now nothings changed health wise. At the weekend I recieved a letter saying I have to go to a medical. I have been working in childcare for nearly 9 years.Very confused. Dorinda

Calculating Top Up Fees?!
by Guest- 22 replies

this year i have a number of children attending other settings, i am rather worried about (and think it is probably really easy and i am getting myself tied up) how to calculate the top up fees some families may have. i know now my LA is funding by hours not sessions, but this doesnt mean that its that straight forward does it? obviously if i have a child who attends more hours another setting and they get the funding i may have to charge some kind of top up. i have to admit i am slightly confused! so anyone please help! To be honest im feeling really silly for not 'getting' it too!

Hello all, Hope you had a good weekend. Can any of you help with the above? We have a baby room (3 months - 2), registered for 6, and a separate hall that is resistered for around 25 (2-3 and 3-4+). We're a new setting and money is very tight, so have any of you some ideas of where we can combine groups and keep ratios correct? On our busiest day, we have: 4 in the baby room 11 in the hall (6 X 2-3's and 5 X 3-4+'s). Any advice from you guys would be very much appreciated. duggy.
