Hi all, Just wondered, most of my children are familiar with the four basic 2d shapes, naming corners, straight and curved edges. Is it to soon in the year to move onto 3d shapes. My topic this half term is shape, texture and colour. So will obviously need to include shapes. xxxx

Hi everyone, I'm about to send my application form off with a Power Point for our application for a new building. The committee have asked that the staff think about a 'Strap Line' about 'How important the project is....' which will be put on the first page with an artist impression of the new building. I keep coming up with long winded strap lines. Do any of you fancy putting down your ideas? Also could you read the following, I have to use bullet points and don't have much space (A4 sheet). Any comments very, very welcome. Business Plan. What impact would the new facility have on…. The children and parents will benefit from: Better security systems Pro…

Hello, If a staff CRB comes through with records such as possession of offensive weapons, such as knives and guns on record, staff did not declare this, (now admitted that she had it has a protection because she was being bullied or something or that such) what is the stand on this. Is the staff still employable, or not. Offence is not related to child abuse, am not too sure.

Staff's Children In Setting

Hi there, Just wondering what other folks policy is on this... We are a pre-school. Currently we allow volunteer parents to bring in younger brothers and sisters if they are helping for a morning. We have a situation coming up where staff live/work in different counties and the half-term holiday doesn't quite match up. A member of staff would like to bring her 6 year old in with her on the Monday morning. Her husband will look after the child on the second day and take a day's holiday. The alternative is that the staff member has to have the Monday(first day back) off and we get more expensive supply cover in. She is the leader. I anticipate no problems …

Am i right in understanding that from September 2012 all members of staff that work in an EY setting must hold a minimum level 3 qualification or be working towards it? We have a member of staff who is unqualified but has worked at our setting for 20+ years they are refusing to do any form of training.. I understand that we cant count this member of staff in the ratios etc.. What are our options if any. She also gets the same pay as qualified staff and it is now causing a few problems within the group.. any thoughts.

We are looking for a new staff member and have done all the interviews, had everyone in for an hours play with the children and found 2 really great girls. We just can not decide between the two. Has anyone thought of any further way to decide between them? Further interview or sessions? I just can't decide and it's driving me crazy!!!!

It Policy

Hello, I've just had a welfare audit and it was suggested that I should have an IT policy. I hadn't rushed to do it as there is no internet access in the playroom [preschool] I was advised that there was a sample one on a local website but I can't locate it. I haven't been able to find one on here, either, although I'm sure I've seen one. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please, or post a sample if there isn't one? It would be great to have a starting point!
