Hi, I about to do some training around the Unique child area of EYFS. I can easily do the power point presentation, but as we all have different learning styles, I would like to make the training more interactive and creative. I would love some examples of how you were involved in training in the past ( and also your own EYFS trainiing which involved you and your really enjoyed) I would really appreciate your ideas. Thanks you all so much Sunshine

Hello peeps... Anyone got a procurement policy and or development policy? having thought I'd got every policy under the sun from the obvious to the obscure, I've decided that I need a few more. My 300 page policy folder just isn't heavy enough, not enough memory is being used on the computer and frankly I think the staff could do with a bit more light reading. just wondered if anyone had anything they would mind sharing, so I can look at it and think on my own. thanking you all z

Hi all I am about to start work on update/review of my Policies and Procedures....... Currently these are a combination of PLA and my own work...... I have recently purchased PLA publication 'Policies and Procedures for the EYFS'.......have been looking at this and wondering why would I want to 're-invent the wheel'........ Thinking of just making the necessary adaptations - i.e. setting name, designated person(s) name etc. Does anyone else do this... and... has that had Ofsted approval?! Thanks Sunnyday

Staff Health Declaration

Does anyone ask their staff to complete a health declaration? I know that managers have to complete one and have it sent off to Ofsted with a report from their GP, but for other staff do you ask them to do one? We have been advised to ask them to complete one annually, and make it their responsibility to let the management team know of any changes. Apart from the fact it will probably only affect me I am struggling with what to ask and what is too personal/detailed/etc. If anyone has any examples I would be very grateful.

We want to make it polite and friendly, but get the message across. thanks in anticipation. Sunshine

2 Staff Per Session... 1 2 3
by Guest- 68 replies

We have just had feedback from ECERS and the biggest comment was regarding the fact we only have 2 members of staff - FYI - Max of 9 children per session, 2 staff, very small school class room, office/kitchen/staff toilet in another building, childrens toilets in other class room but same building. So they felt that we need to address only having 2 staff. We can't have a 3rd member of staff beacuse we need 11 children per session to cover 3 staff wages, We have approached the idea of parent rota and it was felt by ALL committee members that = A. they don't want to do this B. the class room is so small that 9 children and 3 adults is too much C. Too difficult to m…

hi all, i am a nursery manager for a 56 place nursery, and have been doing the role for just under two years. i would be interested in hearing any success stories or ideas/initiatives that any body has put in place that we could use at my nursery whether its to do with staff, children, activties, parents or room changes. i feel its great to share ideas as it keeps you going! one idea we use and works really well is: covering the table in each area with bright backing paper and covering it with photos or topic related pictures so the children can see what could be played in that area, ofsted also really commented that they liked the 'evidence'. a simple one that …
