HI, due to staffing restructure we now no longer have a fulltime level three person working with our under 2's. now i know we need one and have told the owners this. there answer: " Dawn, we have three staff all just completing their level three's, and one other doing her level three, so we will have plenty of level three's" my response " yes, but we have not employed any of them as level three" (they all joined us as level two and have doen NVQ training with us) Owners: " We do not have to employ and pay them as level three in order to meet the EYFS requirements, as technically they are level three even though not employed as level three, we will be …

When Are You Classed As Qualified?
by Guest- 5 replies

is it when.... you have completed the course? or when you have certificate? Just wondered our bank staff deputy has just finished (and I mean just!) her NVQ2. Of course my setting is in dire financial straights so cant afford agency to cover the deputy who is off on her hols for 2 weeks. So they have now got a lady in who has an NVQ 2 and was doing her training as a TA at th primary school. Any thoughts on this? Supervisor seems to think she needs certificate. Will her tutor just have said "you have passed" etc etc???

I suppose i am looking for some advice, sympathy and the need to be reminded that some of us are in the job because we really want to make a difference in children's lives. I have recently took over as manger and it is my first 'management' role. I started full of ideas and excitment, full of enthusiams and eager to get my teeth into the EYFS. I embraced the settings and began to identify where improvements and changes could be made in order to fully support each and every child. To encourage their independence, to base their learning on their interests and to see them as people and respect their wants, dislikes and so on. The team i manage have all worked at the …

Hi All I have an interview on Monday. It requires candidates to give a 10 minute presentation the title of which is: "How would you use the EYFS to support inclusion within the Children’s Centre partnership"? I have a few ideas but any others would be gratefully received, as I don't want to miss anything out. Thanks folks!!

Information Booklet

Hi all A huge favour to ask pretty pretty please We are currently revamping our ' Information/induction booklet to give to new staff - and was wondering if any of you kind people out there would be willing to share what you include in yours. Am worried that I might have left something out. Would be interested also on what format you all use too.(eg booklet, pack, etc) Currently we have a collection of information sheets and policies made into a small file for new staff, but they really could do with a face lift - any good layouts, font ideas. I don't mind if you want to PM me with samples. Much much appreciated.

We have been advertising for months now for a leader to cover my maternity leave (and job share after) and not one applicant!! Don't know what else to do, it's starting to look like we will have to close No other staff in the setting are level 3 so can't take over, It's a good job, good wage, nice setting... just don't understand why no one wants a job... Sorry, just a moaning post! and feel really bad but I really can't come back to work 2 weeks after having a baby just to keep the setting open!! Anyone any bright ideas of places to advertise? (already in job centre, local papers, posters in local uni)

Hi a few questions for all you knowledgeable people. just letting you know we are a 53 place day nursery in case this affects the answers. the nursery owners believe that a level three person can have stand in key holder responsability and therefore be left in the nursery with no senior or deputy or manager. is this ok, and if so in taking on key holder responsability do they automatically take on whole nursery responsability and therefore become accountable for anything that happened, or potentially have to deal with ofsted walking through the door? if this is the case what training would you give them, and would you have written agreement that they take key hold…

Crb Checks

Can anyone help please? How often do CRB checks have to be done for staff working in Pre School/nurseries? I have heard that they need to be updated regularly. What amount of time constitutes 'regularly'? and can someone point me in the right direction (Web site or documentation etc.) where this has been mentioned/identified as a requirement. I await in anticipation Thank you
