Getting Paid For Paperwork?...
by Guest- 15 replies

Am trying to find out how other settinf manage paperwork time. In the past we have sat out for 5 mins here and there to do paperwork but due to many more children this isn't possible. No staff want to do paperwork (mostly keyworker/planning paperwork) in their own time, but committee seem reluctant to pay for our time! My suggestion is only 2 hours a month each so not asking much! Do you get time allocated for you to sit out and do paperwork? or get paid an extra hour or so?? Many thanks

My Deputy

HI, if any of you have read any of my posts re my deputy, you will realise that i have had ongoing issues, and little support from the owners. yesterday myself and the senior nursery officer left nursery at 4:30, all children in garden and deputy in nursery. i had shut the computer down so she was not working in the office, and all office stuff had been done. i get in work this morning to be told by no less than three people that the deputy did not come outside at all until 5:40 to then see how many children were left, (bearing in mind some staff left in this period due to their shifts ending), deputy was reported to be sat in office with another staff member…

We have a child aged 3 who is biting other children. We have experienced this in the past and have been able to work out strategies to deal with and resolve the issue with ease. This time we arent at the end of our tether we dont know what to do. We have called in the FIRST team which take up to 8 weeks. The biter is with us full time, there doesnt seem to be anything that triggers it. She has a sleep during the day. We have tried to give her one to one but its near on impossible. The biters mum is being very supportive wants to work with us, so thats great. The problem we have is with the parents of the children she is biting, they are fluming and one is thre…

Just a quick query. What do you think the qualifications/experience of an operations/area manager should be. By operations/area manager I mean a person who oversees a group of nurseries for a chain of nurseries, usually the manager's line manager (hope I've made sense)!

Cleaning The Hall After Sessions
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi all, I'm after a quick straw poll if you don't mind. We are having problems with the lady who is mean to clean our village hall and who doesn't do a very good job. We found a (very old) used sanitary towel behind one of the toilets last weekend OMG!! Unfortunately she's on the hall committee so politics mean we can't just clamp down on her. I've suggested that we employ our own cleaner, say 3 days a week for an hour. Could I ask what other settings do? In theory it's the hall committee's job to keep it clean, but it doesn't get done and the dirt is increasingly ingrained from years of neglect. Thanks, Sue.

Please could anyone tell me or point me in the direction of where I would find out how many adults I need to take 45 nursery - 3 and 4 yr old- children out to the farm? 1 to 4 seems to ring a bell, but I'm not sure why I think it's this many. Thanks for any replies.

I had a great morning at work today, one of those that reminds you why you work with young children, everything went according to plan, children had a brilliant time in the rain, our potatoes are growing well, most children focused on an activity they were enjoying and learning from, hand over went smoothly and then a relatively quick tidy and thorough clean. We were just setting up for monday when the phone rings, our chairperson informs us we have had a letter sent to her house regarding a complaint to ofsted about the setting!!! It states a complaint has been made re: Lack of staff on a specific day!! Children without personal files?!! Staff don't interact…
